Ludwig's buyout is reportedly $450,000

idk if that is "unusually large" or the buyout in question.

So in summary the paid sites are OK but not worth paying for. That's where I've been for years.

Frank pissed me off years ago when I found out he had a secret board where he gave out info that his paid subscribers didn't get. Might even still be true.

I think the guys overall do a good job with that site. They don’t put out stupid information just to put out information. Their recruiting news is good. And the coverage of other sports is better than 247. 247 is just a bunch of threads that people continue to repeat the same info time after time

I really love the fact that MF keeps things close to the vest and the beat guys are left in the dark. These guys have had it pretty easy for a while. There seemed to be a ton of leaks in the BK regime. Let’s see what ND beat writers are worth a damn and can work hard to gain access to the team.

The part I don’t like is that the beat now just throws as much shit at the wall as they can to see what might stick and fans see it and over react to what is being “reported”.

But also a $2.8 million buyout for an offensive coordinator? That seems kind of unrealistic. This is Utah not USC or Bama.

Looks like Ludwig signed a three year deal worth $2.5M total in 2019. Did they just renew it? Or extend at a big raise?

Not a serious football program if a buyout makes this fall through.
2.8m buyout for an assistant is unusual I think. ISD made a good point as well that if you toss that in with potentially more coaches leaving and having to dish out more cash to hire new coaches, it all adds up.

Football Scoop says he made 915k last year.

I couldn't find more about the renewal after that 3 years from 2019 was over.

Assuming Ludwig's contract works like the DC's does: it's a rolling 3-year contract. He would get paid the full value if he is fired without cause, that drops to 75% of the value if Whittingham is fired and the new guy doesn't keep him on. There is no indication that these are buy-outs if he wants to leave for another school, just for Utah if they want to terminate the contract.

Scalley’s contract is unique because A) he is the coach in waiting but they don’t want to use that language and B) he was suspended in 2020.
