The more I think about it, the more I might move him to the top of my list. I don't know a TON about PSU's offense other then they seem to be pretty balanced/pro style. AND, he is like 50 years younger then Ludwig, seems to have a pretty good track record.
I have not looked up their Pts per game or anything like that.

According to his Penn State bio, he leads all offensive coordinators in college football over the last decade in yards per play and 50+ point games? I’m sure there’s some wiggle room in there (how many guys have spent ten years as an OC?) but that’s impressive, as is his overall resume.

Yurcich would be a home run higher he is also from Ohio and QB coach at Ohio State in 2019. He also has recruited quite well just look at 3 of the most recent QB's he has landed.

Yurcich hasn't been mentioned anywhere beyond the "flight tracker" thread on 247 so if it's actually him, it would be safe to say Freeman successfully patched the leaks in the program.

Yurcich's PPG and YPP seem to be great. Does like to take shots down the field. Has coached and recruited some big guys.

He loves to go fast with his offense. That seems like the biggest negative for me. Could he/would he change that aspect of his O? PSU did struggle mightily running the ball in '21. They were putrid. Possible red flag? I don't know. Could be an outlier.

In addition to QB's, he's coached RB and WR's before. Which I think is a big plus for a coordinator in their overall understanding of the O, as well as preaching and incorporating your philosophy down the ranks to your position coaches.

He's 10 1/2 years younger than Ludwig (which is fairly irrelevant, but was mentioned prior).

Has a ton of PA roots. The random flight tracker info seems to be the only link to him at ND.

A part of me would like MF to get him just for the simple fact of, F&#! James Franklin.

There's a lot to like about him, but I don't know, I can't help but get some Sloppy Seconds feelings about him. He's been around some big programs and been an OC for awhile, but doesn't seem to be a guy that gets a lot of respect or attention from other programs. Doesn't seem to have much "star" or "next head coach" vibe to him. I realize that's not the end-all, be-all and may not even be the case, but Ludwig seems like he could be the better option as "veteran" than him. This is more gut-feeling type of stuff.

Good points, and yes some could be red flags. Especially the run game. I’m sure MF will put his stamp of approval on the Offense before anything is rolled out. I’m sure he does the same with Golden and the Defense. I’m not too concerned who he hires because of his desire to be physical up front, and his emphasis on running the ball.

No one said no so far except Brian Johnson. And if you truly believed a guy who has a great chance to be an NFL OC was going to take the same job at ND with far more responsibilities and less pay, then bless your heart.. .

I am not so sure on that. The quality of life is better because you don't have to recruit and coach teenagers but I think ND should be able to pay more than what most NFL teams will pay their OCs.
