Can you name any coaches who sucked at a job and then magically got better when given a second chance?Serious question, what makes Parker so awful? He's been in this system and now has Hartman (for the time being) and Buchner. I get he didn't do well at WVU, but maybe he can be successful here?
gimme the gorillas and the bison.
$3.05m per year to fuck up ND athletics (especially football)! Geesh, I'd accept $.5m to do that and give the other $2.55m in order to hire an acceptable OC/OL coach!Well we have to pay Jack 2-3 million a year to do nothing.
Pete Carroll? Can you name any coaches who sucked at a job and then magically got better when given a second chance?
I went gorillas and rats. 10,000 rats is a shitload of rats.gimme the gorillas and the bison.
Sampson mentioned on the II podcast that the main reason Klein no longer became a candidate was because of the feedback MF got back from the QB room. Klein really bombed when he spoke to them. O'Malley chimed in saying the only opinion that should have mattered in that situation was Hartman's.
So the point is, if it ends up being Parker then it's likely MF has already gotten feedback from Hartman that he's OK with that.
Oh I'm in full agreement on that - more just saying, you can't trust anything anyone says regarding this hiring process because Swarbrick is still around to pull even more shenanigansThat was correct though. He was in. Then Swarbrick pulled the most bush league move in the history of big boy athletics. No one saw that coming since WHO IN THEIR RIGHT MIND HAS ON CAMPUS INTERVIEWS WITH SOMEONE WITHOUT KNOWING THEIR BUYOUT
I wanted Rees out after Marshall and Stanford. I get the frustration with him, I get why people wanted him fired. But I warned all the fucking haughty beat reporters and anyone who would listen when he left for Bama that we were probably screwed here and it was NOT good that Tommy was leaving when he did. Sampson said it was an "opportunity" and I thought that was laughable. A late cycle defection to Bama means that Rees was the best that Bama could get... and in that case, that means ND is likely to have to settle for someone objectively worse not better.I will say something shocking... I am really, really sorry for ever dissing Rees if this is the best that we can do. I never imagined we would be this neutered in a search.
What qb room? So we’re making a choice based on a one year kid? Nice.Sampson mentioned on the II podcast that the main reason Klein no longer became a candidate was because of the feedback MF got back from the QB room. Klein really bombed when he spoke to them. Are we on land? Now many bullets does the hunter have?
Bill Belichick. Not that I’m in favor of the Parker hireCan you name any coaches who sucked at a job and then magically got better when given a second chance?

He had a Tom Brady. And look what's happening now to him...Bill Belichick. Not that I’m in favor of the Parker hire
lmaoooo oofHere's the thing: I like Marcus and I think he can be a great coach. But ultimately, he was picked last year because ND doesn't want to spend money. They never have. It's why Jenkins came back from Utah without Meyer on the plane.
True, but he still got better and had success at his second chance. He’s a Hall of Fame coach that had top notch defenses in the Pats run, as well.He had a Tom Brady. And look what's happening now to him...
Terrible take. The Patriots had an amazing defense for their first championship teams. Belichick is a great coachHe had a Tom Brady. And look what's happening now to him...
I feel bad for Parker if he gets hired
I don't. I hate it when people take a job they are not capable of doing. Self awarenes is a massively undervalued trait.
THis might be the most correct and depressing assessment I have read.I wanted Rees out after Marshall and Stanford. I get the frustration with him, I get why people wanted him fired. But I warned all the fucking haughty beat reporters and anyone who would listen when he left for Bama that we were probably screwed here and it was NOT good that Tommy was leaving when he did. ND had a couple options to sidegrade the position and whiffed. They now need to either 1) completely reevaluate what they are willing to pay and poach an established coach from elsewhere 2) go with a straight downgrade/retread. We all know they are leaning towards #2. They need someone who is currently not on the market to pop up as an option in about the next week or it's going to cost ND a full season and potentially torpedo Marcus Freeman's entire tenure at the helm of ND.
