This must be one of the most tight lipped searches in history. Like a Navy Seal operation. Any flight tracker updates or news?

May be more boring, but the less news I hear on this makes me actually feel better about it tbh. Just means should expect to hear an announcement to introduce Watt within the next few hours.

I mean, it should be tight lipped. You saw the reaction from this fan base when they didn't get their first or second OC option and when they didn't get their first OL option. Everyone lost their minds. Why would you want that information public so people could freak out more? If I was on the coaching staff, I'd take fans freaking over a lack of info instead of "losing out on all top options."

Savvy Jack is busy reconciling the AD’s checking account. Once that task is finished he plans to hire Watt as OLine HC.

Thereafter he will bring Freeman into the process to announce his hire. Freeman will then handle the Presser and speak to the thorough search. Not being totally stupid, Savvy Jack will supply Freeman with prerequisite Talking Points and sit in the audience to make sure his under paid Head Coach keeps to his script….most especially emphasizing the Program’s Commitment to winning.

Tommy Boy says its most likely going to be Randolph, but don't worry he'll keep digging for us!

Had a chance in 2018 to hire him from BC. Had an opportunity last year before Harry as well.

From what I understand, he interviewed but according to BK, the players wanted Quinn

I think I remember hearing/reading somewhere that Frye chose UCLA because of the pathway to a quick promotion to OC.

ND might have interviewed him, but whether they offered him or not would have been irrelevant once UCLA told him he'd be OC in a year or two.

He was my first choice back then, too... but I DID go to bat for Quinn on this website because of his work at UC with BK. Overall, Quinn's record is a mixed bag, imo.

Prob looking through the local directory to see which ex-ND-OL live in the SB area and are looking for work. We prob need to be on LinkedIn, not flight trackers.

Should have led with Quinn and Watt as the lead candidates then. Set the bar low- like half an inch off the floor. Then bam! When it's anybody besides those 2, the whole world rejoices!

Freeman could really benefit from some poker or business/negotiating classes.

Honestly they should have had a new hire ready to go before Harry announced. Didn’t he give Freeman a heads up?
Is this sarcasm?

Ludwig was bringing Utah’s OL coach with him. So how were they supposed to have a hire lined up if their preferred choice was bringing an OL coach?

The problem with this is the extra effort to keep things tight-lipped seems to go against what MF said about parading Ludwig around at the hockey game the same way he does with recruits. He tried to make it sound like that would continue to be a great approach in trying to entice assistant coaches in the future. Of course, I thought that was just spin when he said it, and the lack of parading any more potential coaches around during the current OL coaching search seems to confirm that.
