Luke has turned down every other opportunity to even just interview anywhere. The fact he did at ND says a lot. If family is really his priority, I don't blame him one bit for not wanting to move to South Bend when his sons are entering high school and middle school. Sometimes things aren't all that complicated for why ND misses.

IMO, Luke taking the job would have been the biggest surprise since Manti committing. I’m Luke’s age and have lived in the south my whole life but I doubt I would move my family up to northern Indiana. Not sure how you guys deal with such shitty weather.

On the flip side you don’t necessarily have to worry about a Nader dropping from the sky every time it rains!

I think Rudolph would be great. From what I've gathered, he's got some recruiting chops as well. He was considered Wisconsin's top recruiter for years which can't be an easy place to recruit to.
He was recruiting O lineman to Wisconsin though... so I'm not sure how tough that would be to recruit. Alot of those recruits were probably in state as well.

Loy saying Luke is for sure out and it's on to Rudolph and Callahan. Luke's family was interested in ND as well, but my guess is moving from Athens to South Bend was one of the deal breakers. You can't really compare the two.

"From what I’ve gathered, Joe Rudolph of Virginia Tech and Minnesota’s Brian Callahan are likely next up."

Freeman/Swarbrick hires from within for an OC and IE bitches. Freeman/Swarbrick are bound to make an outside hire for the OL coach, IE bitches.

Either way, Freeman can’t win here. I guess the only winning scenario was Andy Reid and Joe Moore.

Luke always seemed like a weird play for us. But at least the kids got to see ND for free.

I would have taken Kyle Shanahan and Matt Luke

For OLine it is. They’re one of the bests spots at developing NFL OLinemen, there’s a ton of in-state talent at the position, you get to play in a fun ground pound offense, the best beer and brats this side of the Atlantic, heck sign me up to be a Badger OLinemen. We barely pulled Schrauth out of state and he’s a high academic, Catholic, ND dreamer.
