Are you talking about Driskell defending his Intel that Swarbrick initially was told the buyout was like $450K based on Ludwig's old contract and when he heard his current contract was $2.8MM he balked at the buyout. That ND tried to "Negotiate with Utah" and were stymied and then Ludwig decided to stay at Utah and pull out consideration based on Swarbrick and Admin balking....
I actually believe this intel because Swarbrick's letter to the boosters seems to reflect this being possible. The only more weird letter I have read recently was the Jonetbene Ramsey's ransom letter....
I am talking about Driskel and his staff constantly, and not in a very nice way, calling JS a liar when he wrote that he did not refuse to pay the buyout. MF repeated the same thing several times. By extension, if he is accusing JS of lying about this, he is also indirectly accusing MF of lying.
I would hazard to say that MF must not be very happy, to say the least, about what Irish Breakdown is accusing JS about. If you believe his intel, then you also believe MF lied. JS surely tried to negotiate the buyout to a lower level. Any decent AD would do the same. In the end however, I believe JS and MF when the claim ND accepted the full buyout and that Ludwig had a change of heart. That is, in essence, what both Freeman and Swarbick say and what IB claims is an outright lie. And I would bet that Freeman is not very happy with IB and their accusation. Give it some time and at some point, Ludwig will say the same (that after thinking this over with his family and friends, he decided to stay in Utah). Notre Dame just witnessed the same thing with Luke. He had to be very interested in the job to come visit and interview, but when all is said and done, he decided to stay in Georgia for family reasons.
