This is a tough day for Coach D - he was a big time Buchner lover.

I think we just need to assume ND will keep the QB Room full - including Grad Transfers and let the QB Competition happen each year. To pin hopes on any one individual instead of a process is the real problem.

I can see that. I actually enjoy listening to IrishBreakdown (sprinkled in w/ my 104.5 LSU stuff), but Driskell undoubtedly comes across as a know it all. He does seem like a genuinely good guy, just a tad bit pompous.

“Downfall of Notre Dame because Buchner is in the portal”? 😂 Addition by subtraction. What a moron. It was a “close race” between Joe Burrow and Justin McMillan (transferred to Tulane). It was the a close race” between Joe Burrow and Myles Brennan. Then, after Burrow’s departure, we bring in Jayden Daniels and, again, it was a “close race” between Daniela and Brennan (Brennan retires from football). In sum, it works out. I hate to say it, but Buchner has shown absolutely nothing to be this upset over.

I don’t follow the beat other than my Athletic subscription and Sampson, but that video seemed to be full of some bad takes. Tommy recruited Hartman over Buchner. There is going to be attrition when you’re stacking good players. I’m kind of shocked at the reaction of guys who get paid to do this.

He is a good guy. Away from football he is a really good guy.
He just can’t be told he’s wrong & in his mind nobody knows more football than him.
His film breakdowns are good, his content is good, his sources are good. You just can’t disagree with him or question him.

The thing that really blew my mind here was him trying to make the Styles and Kollie transfer (couple with the Buchner transfer) as potential locker room issues. Yes they were top 100 recruits, but the guys simply weren't producing at that level. Styles has regressed since his freshman year and was getting passed up by freshman. Kollie was getting passed on the depth chart as well. If they truly were top 100 recruits, then they would get getting playing time and not getting passed up on the depth chart. Just an asinine opinion from a shit take machine.

Goolsby seems like a MFMF hater, and is using anything negative to drive home “Freeman is bad and in over his head.”

Freeman would have been doing the program a major disservice had he NOT gone out and gotten the best QB in the portal… but Goolsby thinks the program is “rudderless” and MFMF is in the headlines for all the wrong reasons because three dudes who struggled for their own reasons decided to leave.

Dude’s a boomer that probably posts on NDNation under a terribly h creative handle.

He wasn't at his best but is a big Buchner supporter so is obviously bummed. He is entertaining and gives good insight. Singer, Goolsby etc are way less boring than Brian Driskell and his team. Ferk they are boring, they just go on an on.

I still think those two could have been productive players for ND. Both very talented and still only sophomores. Wish they would have stayed but that’s how it goes these days.

People knew immediately following the game.
He told people he was then & everyone was hoping he would change his mind.
It was kept quiet until he announced it because there was a small chance he wouldn’t do it.
Just like they knew about Kollie a long time ago because he was telling everyone he was leaving at the beginning of spring practice.
