10 years ago, the SEC was not the king of the football field, 10 years from now, they probably wont be again. It's a cycle. The demographics have not/will not change, but coaches do and so do programs.

btw: quality response Buster Bluth, way to bring something to the discussion.

Well... he's not wrong, so far as I can tell.

Anybody want to take up the cause of all things being cyclical?

Can't remember the last time a non-SEC team won the title, sadly. Was it USC? Who was it? If Cyclical = Domination then ok.

I guess if FSU beats Auburn that makes it cyclical. My best guess. IDK. The way I see it if the SEC always wins the title, it hasn't cycled in a while.

if fsu wins it will just be, "wasnt sec best team"

You got that right. The other thing the media doesn't talk about, is the piss poor defense played in the SEC. A couple of years ago, all the rave was the staunch defense played by practically every team in the SEC. Now the games are track meets and it's all about the great offenses in the SEC.

The Rivals and 247 guys always say recruiting is all about momentum. Thank God we got a ton of momentum right now.

Agree. Add in Golson's return news, likely spanking of Rutgers and ND should be riding the wave into 2014. Just has to be better than 2013 right? Lol

i just hope we play a clean game and destroy the bowl game. with the heat on recruiting and guys we are picking up its a strong end to a weak season. maybe EG can convince tuitt and lou to stay for a monster year. wishful thinking but tis the season

Let me 'splain how this is going to work. Next year we are going to see more young guys take spots from more experienced guys, less from need because of injury. Now is not the time to wish last years team back. The staff is obviously going for broke on this being a big class that scratches a lot of itches.

i bet ND has a bunch of transfers next year, lots of talented soph's/frosh are gonna keep alot of upperclassmen off the field

Yes at some point we will have to let upperclassmen go at the expense of some talent, except at safety.

Baratti, Redfield, Shumate, Hardy. Everyone has what? At least three years. Or is it one with two, and the rest three? With Smith and Hendrix (both potentially) moving in.

Upperclassmen who would transfer from ND should have their heads examined. Unless you are transferring to another top notch school, it would be insane to give up the degree so you can spend a year in residence at State Tech U. or whatever and then play one season (on presumably a worse team). Why not stay through graduation and if you actually do end up buried on the depth chart and never get the chance to play, you can go start your post-grad work somewhere and get your chance to play without giving up your ND degree or spending a year in residence?

I feel like Hendrix is starting to look on the outside. 1. he liked his ark visit a lot. 2. With the additions of Hill, Sykes, and probably Morgan, Tranquill may get his shot at safety first. JuJu or bust at that position IMO.

this isnt anythign against Hendrix. I have thought he would/wanted him to be a part of this class from the time we offered. just the way things look currently.

I believe Hardy and Shumate only have 2 years left. The other two have 3.

ND is probably looking to sign the full 27 if it's the right guys. There will be attrition for sure like there is every year, and if not they'll simply come out of the 5th year pool. This recruiting is super excellent right now. Not a lot of "superstar" talent in this class, but quality players across the board.

I guess its assumed Farley will lose his spot and Collinsworth will not be back?

More evidence of this program moving in a new (better) direction... in past years if a coaching change is made the class gets hit, usually hard... this year both the OC and DC move one and not only does the class not fall apart but ND within a week gets three big commits and looks for more...

damn, this is fantastic.
