ND Stadium Atmosphere

There is a big difference between putting a shirt on and shaking a pon pom... I would hope that any adult could figure out the difference... shaking a pon pom of the same color is not that hard... we are talking about anything it takes to succeed for the football team and for some reason, this seems like too much effort for you - Sorry!!! no one said cheering for ND would be easy!

By the way, your condescending tone is noted. Filing it under you're not to be taken seriously.

Honestly, pom poms won't matter. You'll see them being used in the student section and scattered throughout the stadium, but not even close to the extent to which scUM used it. Older ND fans refuse to even wear a free extra large shirt so that the crowd color is coordinated, why would they cheer with pom poms?

Tell the older fans, that shaking the pom poms, signifies thier disapproval of ND getting a Jumbotron. :pepper:

True, but the towels were looking good so they were used... We have to try and get this rolling either way we must be persistent at this then it will become a thing we do always...

Also the bookstore needs to sell green pp every game so if we want we can buy one before the game for a couple bucks... I feel that would definatley help get it going..

Green pp going with the beat of the music/ND Band Fight song... After a touchdown it would look badass..

I just really feel try it before we say it won't look good..

Eww. I wouldnt want to get green urine from the ND bookstore. That's nasty bro

A few things: first, if the bookstore sold the pompoms, I think we all know it would be a bit more than "a couple bucks" - nd licensed pompoms would easily be about $15; second, I think the pompoms would look fantastic - as someone else observed, it was pretty awesome seeing Michigan's fans using them. What I'm saying is, seeing them only in the student section and scattered around the stadium won't look good. If they had had them during the night game, it would have looked sweet since it was a younger crowd and most people were cheering. With it being an afternoon game, the stadium will be the retirement home setting it usually is. I just don't want you guys getting your hopes up.

How much effort does it take to put on an xl shirt that was handed to you for free? During my time at ND, they tried to get a blackout, camo-out, etc. at bball games and it never worked because people wouldn't put on the damn shirts. Even worse, nearly everyone buys The Shirt. How come people don't wear it at the game? It's not that hard, but it doesn't happen.

I'm actually shocked they're reasonably priced. Nearly everything in the bookstore is way more expensive than it should be. And most of the crowd for the USC game weren't on their way to the grave, as they will be for BC. I'm definitely going to drop it there's no point arguing about this. If it works, I'll be pleasantly surprised and pleased, because it'll look bada$$. I just don't expect it to, for the same reasons I don't expect everybody to wear the same color or for everybody to cheer.

I'd pay 10 bucks for two... And with the thousands of ppl that flood the bookstore and drop boat loads of money i'm sure 10/20 dollars for game day pom poms for the family wouldn't take a second thought...i spent 1500 my first trip, this yr spent 500 bought pom poms both times for my girl..

I agree with you If it works, I'll be pleasantly surprised and pleased... Go Irish Beat BC

It's probably a good thing I don't have a job. I would go bankrupt shopping at the bookstore with all the cool stuff they have.

This is what it looked like when Michigan used pom poms against us.

VERY effective

I was there and, as much as it pains me to say it, it was certainly effective...

That being said, Notre Dame doing things that scum has already done (seven nation army and now this) and, quite frankly, doing them in a poorer fashion irritates me.

Wow, when did IrishEnvy become a forum for blatant hatred of older people? If these sorts of insult were racially, gender, or (gasp!) even sexually orientation related, would they be tolerated? Got news for you, Mack, you're on the way to the grave, too. Just hope it's later rather than sooner. But you can never be too sure about that, can you?

Honestly, it's not the old people that bother me. I assume they paid their dues cheering-wise and they don't take up as much of the stadium as the middle-aged alums who sit on their hands all game. What I meant when I said on the way to the grave was that they're too quiet. In retrospect, I can see how it could be construed as insulting to old people. And I don't care about age; what ticks me off are the people who refuse to cheer during the game (you don't have to stand to cheer) and at best, golf clap on touchdowns. I hate the gold seat country club members more than any other fans.

Cheer louder to make up for them....When i'm at a game i really don't look around or care about the crowd i'm focused on watching the team.... Don't worry about everyone else lead by example...

Never been to a game without everyone around me cheering and doing crowd push ups... I'm lucky 2/3 times the crowd did the wave and a double wave.

My friend is at the game today and she tweeted it was the best ND stadium atmosphere she has ever been in because of the music. And she lives 30 mins from ND so she has been to lots of games.

The music definitely helps during TV timeouts.

Or am I wrong? I know when I was at USF and then Navy ... it was like a completely different season! If you don't like BK or JS you can just get out!

everyone got the pom-poms. I was there, worried about how the music was going to affect the crowd. Ive noticed the difference in the crowd from when I first got to goto games(nine yrs ago). I had always attributed it to my random seats throughout the stadium. I was in what I considered a dead zone tonight. best part was the.fact that most.people in my section left before the third.quarter was over and we got to spread out. Did feel the music helped me,and especially those around me, to get up and cheer. Just my two cents
