I would calm some of the hype on Thon.

A lot of people doubt he will be an instant impact type of player and that his rating is due more to raw potential. Basically, he may be one and done and a lottery pick, but less because of his play in college and more because of his ceiling.

I'll be shocked if he gets into ND, all things considered. Very difficult to get NCAA clearance with all the moving he's done. He just took his SAT, so hopefully he meets the sliding scale and can get through admissions.

Here's what I don't get... how does Duke get these guys in? They have the same standards as Notre Dame and they consistently get guys like this. They currently have four of the top 40 players committed.

I dont expect Thon to pick ND, but if you watch his highlight tape he's a perfect NBA 4. His jumpshot is insanely smooth for someone 7 feet tall. He reminds me of KG

But do they follow those standards for basketball? That's the question. They knowingly go after one and dones, so I doubt Coach K comes in preaching academics.

I've thought the same before. IMO Duke is obviously willing to make huge academic sacrifices to get their guys in. Basketball is also a fundamentally easier sport for schools to make adjustments in policy and accommodate kids who aren't necessarily qualified since the roster is significantly smaller.

The ball is kind of in Notre Dame's court on this one in my very uneducated opinion. By all accounts Thon is a good person and good student who has always placed an emphasis on his academics. If they want to give Brey the tools to have a nationally competitive program, they let kids like this in, just like Duke does.

Agreed, I'm a huge fan of his game. But adjusting to college takes some people a lot of time, and he needs to pack on serious strength. I think he will definitely be a good college player, but I don't know that he'd be the program changer that a lot of his fans think he could be.

With DJ and Steve's leadership it is easy to imagine that lineup going ape shit on opponents. Cue Van Halen "Dreams".

This reminds me a lot of Lance Stephenson at UC.

Super hyped recruit that looks to be a one-and-done difference maker, but was actually a one-and-done guy based purely on potential.

(I still contend to my friends that if he would have stayed at UC another season to play with Sean Kilpatrick and Cashmere Wright, they would have made the Final Four.)

Ol' Lance. As a Pacer fan he would drive you crazy. Play great team ball one minute and go into his own little world the next minute. His biggest mistake was getting out from under Bird's guidance.

He did the same stuff in his one year at UC. I think another year of Mick Cronin brow-beating him would have done him wonders, and would have made the team that lost to Ohio State in the Sweet 16 the next year MUCH better.

The most infuriating thing about him was that when he would decide it was time to freestyle and do his own thing, he could take over an entire game when attacking the basket, which would make it an acceptable situation at times... but instead of doing that with his amazing talents, he would dribble himself into a good look at a 3 and then miss it terribly. ATTACK THE BASKET LANCE was a motto for an entire season.

Brey has really stepped up his recruiting game for 2017. A lot of good offers out there. This is the offer sheet so far.

PG- Chris Lykes 4* (Washington DC)
SG-Brandon Randolph 4* ( PA)
SF- DJ Harvey 5* (Maryland) DeMatha High. ( Breys alma mater)
SF- Kris Wilkes 5* ( Indy)
SF- Brian Bowen 5* ( Laporte, IN)
PF- Jaren Jackson 4* ( Indy)
PF- Nicolas Claxton 3* (Grensville, SC)
PF-Aamir Simmis 4* ( Dyke, VA)
C- Zach Kent 3*( Middletown, DE)

A lot of 4 and 5 stars. More then he usually gives out.

Any word on their levels of interest? Any of these kids from the Michiana or Chicagoland area?

4 star Corey Kispert who visited last month has committed to Zags. Some said we had a chance to reel him in.

Updated list with where their from and Lykes and Simmes are actually composite 4*

Reps. Pretty awesome to have two 5 stars from IN being recruited though I know the competition both in state and around the country will be tough.

Edit: My bad. Thought you were speaking on DJ.

Hence the word "recruit", right? haha

Denzel and Jerian will be playing together in Chi-town. That'll be fun to watch (even though I don't watch the NBA). Good young talent over there.

Kinda funny that three months ago we were talking about getting a guy that ended up being drafted at pick #10 of the NBA draft. lol

Looks like DJ Harvey is on commit watch. Brought both parents with him this weekend #47 OA according to ESPN, #41 OA according to 24/7.

6'6 SF from Dematha HS, MD. Same HS as Jerian Grant.
