I don’t really get the dismissiveness over Shrew’s recruiting so far… the 2023 class disintegrated and he managed to piece together a top 25 class after signing day had passed. The 2024 class finished top 25. Brey rarely pieced together back to back classes like that. ‘25 recruiting has started out slow but not all that different than ‘24. Lots of recruits still on the board, visits taking place etc

I’m only disappointed really in his portal approach so far. Maybe ND’s NIL support for basketball just makes it too much of a challenge

Shrews should not be on the hot seat, when he took over ND there were only 3 holdovers from Brey's team (I could be wrong on that #).

He brought in a good recruiting class for this up and coming season.

He is getting big time Indiana kids to visit campus.

Like notredomer23 said above he could win over better portal transfers.

It took Brey time, it will take Shrews time.

I agree and to me it's crazy to consider any mention of a hot seat at this early juncture.

The squad last year predictably got better as the season wore on. By the conference tourney, they were playing decent ball, beating a tournament team that made a run (Clemson) and a fringe tourney team in WF who just missed the dance. Nothing to brag about, but there were signs of life from a very, very young squad.

As many of us have said all along, he should be given at least three years before he can really be evaluated with how bare Brey left the cupboards.

from a Twitter feed that typically has pretty good insight into ND BB recruiting.

We missed on Azavier Robinson from Indy. He chose Butler. Having Owens on staff I thought would pay more dividends especially with the Indy area AAU scene.

He was a Larry North kid, so idk if he had a committable offer or what his academics are like, but he’s a kid we could really use basketball-wise.

The post about Mingo is in response to that… they feel good enough about Mingo they haven’t pushed for Robinson of late.

We’ll see if it pays off. This cycle has me uneasy but plenty of time to go.

Basketball recruiting is like WR football recruiting where recruits needs to see production. There has been some very positive local articles about the basketball team, they are going on a 10 day/3 game foreign trip to Spain.

Once this team starts to win on the court, Shrews will win in recruiting.

Sir Mohammed was essentially the same ranking...
Yeah, looking back at the all-time signing rankings Sir Mohammed is right there, as was Carey Booth (still so pissed he took off, I didn't get that one), Nate, JJ, etc.

But still, a rare get. Would be nice to add him.

Things don’t seem to be going well on the recruiting front. Think if they can land two of the following then they’ll be alright.
The worse thing is we have no idea how these players are being recruited with so little info.
Think our chances with Haralson are better than people think. The rest I have zero feeling on.
Getting these guys to hold onto their recruitment to get in for a football game visit and a workout with the team will be crucial.

Have a friend that seems to be on top of IU BB. He thinks it's Sparty.
These guys discuss Haralson and the fact that Jamie Shaw from On3 had a low confidence pick of 25% for IU. Shaw said the biggest threat to IU is not MSU, it is ND.

I don't know if anyone is a true expert or insider as it relates to ND MBB recruiting. But this guy has a pretty good feel overall. Calls it razor thin close, but thinks we get both.

Hearing lots of rumors of Haralson to ND...Let's hope it's true!
