The BK is not a good recruiter narrative is going to be tested if he’s getting Top 5 classes year in and year out at LSU

Wild BS hits its crescendo during contract negotiations. That is where we are now.

Kelly will be allowed his moment first with his stale, canned press conference. The next day Freeman will be our man.

The future is BRIGHT

Am I the only one that feels like the longer this drags out the worst the news we're going to get will be?

I know it feels like an eternity but it hasn't even been 24 hours. I don't think we can worry too much until the weekend.

Forget that. Schedule the Freeman PC at the exact same time... show the world which school has more buzz.

Okay, and we'll see what he does with those classes. We had plenty of losses to less talented teams under BK.

You know it’s not as clear-cut as that…

Exactly. Their last 2 coaches were complete morons and consistently got top 5-10 classes. There's no in-state competition in Louisiana and most recruits grow up Tigers from birth, and you're right next to Texas.

That won't really be a fair comparison. He wasn't a good enough recruiter here to get ND over the hump. With unlimited resources and zero restrictions, he may very well kill it. In fact, I'd expect him too. Recruiting Louisiana is like shooting fish in a barrel.

That would no doubt feel good, but Notre Dame classiness wins out here. Let Kelly be who he is … a first class douche bag.

It'll depend on his staff. Singer has said before that his level of personal involvement in recruiting wasn't in the same league as a Ryan Day type recruiter.

Same would apply to Fickell then. The real answer is “is he a good recruiter” is a moving target both job by job and year by year.

Definitely isn’t. Nor Riley. And that’s a choice those staffs make. Also why the current OU roster is a free for all. He assumes the Godfather rule that Saban does as well, and now we’ll see it in action on the same footing. He could very well be a “good recruiter” for LSU doing the same thing he did here

I expect that he'd recruit "better" at ND because it's a higher profile job. Just like Kelly recruited "better" at ND than at Cinci. The question is whether it'll be good enough for us to take the next step. And I don't think it would be with Fickell. Maybe I'm wrong, but I think his results would be very similar to Kelly's.

And all of this staff with probably be better overall.

So everyone thinks its Freeman. Scares me a little. Very similar to the Davie hire, 1)well thought of DC, 2)on staff so there's continuity, 3)know you're going to lose him to a HC job if you try to keep him (Davie had the Purdue job lined up when we elevated him.)

So this is different. Why? Davie proved to be a bad head coach. He certainly wasn't a bad DC. Why is Freeman different?

Or are we just panicking to save recruiting. Which is a terrible reason to hire the wrong guy.

Zero chance this scoop is real. If this was an actual feeling people with decision making power at ND had, we would be in the big 10 by now.

Fickell may go to ND but it's not for his Midwest catholic recruiting prowess.

Lol probably not true but not impossible. I could imagine it even if Freeman doesn’t actually dislike BK for it as Freeman also ain’t no dummy and the hate BK train is a great motivation tactic for the CFP. All is fair in the game as BK clearly believes
