Just read up on Kendal Briles. BIG 12 recruiter of the year in '13 '14, OC of the year finalist one year as well as QB coach of the year finalist. Mentored 5 AA over the last half dozen years. Assuming he has strong ties to Texas. Could possibly even sway some '17 recruits. Fairly young. I find him VERY similar to Sanford. Very similar but possibly even more accolades. Show this guy the money and get him going!! Let's get after it! I know we lost Sanford which sucks but we got rid of our horrid ST coach and replaced him with Polian, a massive upgrade, and we filled our empty DC position with a hot DC who is going to install a new defense that I personally think is what we need more than anything in this program. We're going to come out a lot better next year IMO. If we walk away from Georgia next year with a W, I think the ND fan base will be back on his side.

Go Irish

I am not sure if you are aware of this, but Kendall Briles is the son of Art Briles who was fired from his position at Baylor University for covering up and obstructing the investigations of multiple sexual assaults committed by his football players. This was coordinated by "assistant coaches" under Art Briles who remain unnamed but until further evidence comes out, should also include Kendall Briles as a possible guilty party.

This is not someone Notre Dame should approach with a 100 foot pole. In fact, I am disappointed that they even met with Kendall Briles. A win-at-all cost and forget any damage or victims left behind is the mentality that has created delusional Baylor fans who felt Art Briles was "wronged" and given an unfair treatment.

Winning should not be more important than the health, safety and well-being of all college students, particularly those female students who were victims of sexual assault.

To me, it does not matter what this guy has on his resume. He should never be allowed near a Notre Dame coaching staff with his background and associations.

The only similarities between KB and Mike Sanford is age, nothing more. For further reading, look up the debacle that was the "#CAB campaign" during the season. Delusional is the only way I could describe it.

Alternatively, for this very reason, I have no issue at all since there currently isn't any evidence or reports that he was directly involved in any cover up.

Oh you're preaching to the choir. I'm all for doing what it takes to win NC's, not games. I say crank back admissions. What's the difference if a kid gets in with a 1100 SAT or a 900 SAT. Both are exceptions. I'd start the School of Sports Society as an ND style Rocks for Jocks curriculum. Train tomorrow's YMCA leaders, Boys & Girl's Club leaders, Youth Sports directors, Get coaching degrees, sports counselling, Personal trainers, sports management, athletic directors with tie ins to athletic trainers and Kinesiology.

I'd set up a sports factory that trains sports minded people to both service their industries and to spread the mission of the church.

Got 3 this cycle. Would like to see more for sure.

Absolutely not. I don't want my alma mater or my degree cheapened by selling out as a football factory. One of the things that makes ND special is not prostituting itself as an academic institution in the name of its football program---at least not in the same way as most schools do. I think ND can have a successful football program without having to sell its academic soul. If you want a program like the one you're advocating, go follow Alabama, Ohio State, southern cal, etc...

Since Kendal Briles became the passing game and co-offensive coordinator (after Phil Montgomery left for Tulsa, he became the main OC):

2012 44.2 ppg - 3rd in the FBS
2013 51.0 ppg - 2nd in the FBS
2014 46.4 ppg - 1st in the FBS
2015 46.6 ppg - 1st in the FBS
2016 33.1 ppg - 34th in the FBS*

All aboard the hype train if we sign Briles. This would be a scary staff both in recruiting and x's and o's. Kendall has never been tied to any wrongdoing so blackballing him would be solely because of his father's sins.

Briles hire would seem like Sanford. Bring in someone you don't actually use. So I guess im.indifferent based on what little I know

Briles is coming from a different place though. He is a proven coordinator. I don't think he is taking a role like Sanford did.

I'm kind of think that maybe they're looking at him to maybe come in as QB coach and help out offensive game planning. This would be ideal.

I would say he's a very good recruiter. He picked up a lot of West Coast talent, like Crist and Clausen, as well as occasionally hitting places like Florida and Texas. He also brought in Kyle Rudolph.

He may have been the area recruiter but he is
Not solely responsible for those guys. Weis was.

Just a few questions. Who is Kendall Briles, what is he about and whats his history? Also, GB stated that Elko may be bringing his LB coach. If that happens what do you all think/hope will shake out regarding Gilmore and Elston I think there would be a few possibilities. Elston could be moved to TE coach, as that was his former position at Cincinatti if I remember correctly, and Gilmore could remain the DL coach. Elston could be the new DL coach and Gilmore could get pushed out. Elston could end up a DC assistant or some type of assistantt coach and everyone could stay put. Or Elston could be let go but I REALLY don't see that happening as not only is he a good recruiter, but he's also always seemed to be a good coach and long time staff member of Kelly. Thoughts?

? I went over this in my post bro. Gilmore is gone IMO, it's been speculated by multiple people Quinn will coach the TE's. I will break it down for you.

QB/CO OC or OC- Briles?
OC/CO OC/ WR coach- Denbrock
OL- Heistand
TE- Quinn

DC/ safety coach- Elko
DL- Elston
LB- Lea
CB- Lyght

Special teams- Polian
Head coach- BK
Strength and conditioning I have no idea, somebody not named Longo

Not sure if it's been posted or not, don't care either way because it's such great news it's worth talking about again

https://notredame.forums.rivals.com/threads/update-paul-longos-status.101759/

Both rival mods are hearing Longo won't be in charge of the Strength and Conditioning program next year. No official word from ND but it's a demotion but he will still collect a paycheck from ND

Hey Koon, Mikes Hard Lemonades on me tonight for you bro

If I am Briles, I learn from the Sanford experience and insist that I get to call plays from day 1.

Basically from that report some ND players got their own gym memberships to put extra work in because they feel like they weren't being pushed at all.

Koon you were right the whole time. BTW i'm really happy I gave you that nickname and it's the only thing you are called now. Like a proud father

I'm on board. He's young and can recruit Texas, something we really haven't had.

You got it. Born and raised in Texas, with dad being very successful high school and college coach (UH & BU). Could recruit TX big time, and is a young OC adept at the spread offense.

Worth talking to.

How is this even possible? That explains quite a bit, but good lord.

Again, to be very clear, just because they met doesn't mean they pursuing him for a position at Notre Dame. Sometimes coaches just bring in people to talk, and the younger Briles has some time on his hands. Reminds of when Saban brought in Kiffin after he got fired by USC and before hiring him just to pick his brain.

Right, the crazy thing is that at almost every other program it's the opposite... S&C coaches are always bordering on pushing kids TOO hard.

Should just go try and grab Carlisle's dad and be done with it.

Why would they have to get different gym memberships? Couldn't they just use the same facilities at ND just on their own time?

The gym was reserved after hours for Longo's "Sweating to the Oldies" troupe.
