Meh...
Brett Bielema in 2020, but who in 2025?
Meh...

I don't think Arkansas is bad, sure there are much bigger draws, but they're SEC team, kinda in the middle of a number of recruiting hotspots, and a team that plays a brand of football (at least currently) that we can play against.
Granted, when you're planning stuff this far out, who knows.
For 2020 it should work out, unless Big Brett Bielema has some heart issues in the meantime. Petrino at Arkansas would scare the crap out of me though.
Petrino?
Obviously Chip Long will be HC of the #4, defending SEC-W champion Hogs.
IN 2025, sure. 2020? I don't know about that. Now if Sanford wants to go about 8 hours west from WKU as a last "prove it" stop before a crack at a blue blood, then sure.
tough finish there against Brian Van Gorder's talented USC squad
I was totally kidding but having 3 years of Brandon Wimbush and Phil Jurkovec is the kinda luck that gets an OC at a blue blood a high end P5 job especially one with roots and experience in the hiring school's footprint.

The people that say "meh" about this confuse me because they are probably the same people that bitched about scheduling Georgia, A&M, Michigan, etc because they think the schedule would be too hard. So Notre Dame goes out and schedules a middle of the road SEC team and they complain about that. Who do you want them to schedule? TCU, the school that doesn't play defense? We wouldn't get any credit for beating them. Rice? Lol. A&M? They're already on the schedule. Oklahoma? Already played them.
Arkansas isn't a bad team to schedule. They're probably the same level of competition as V Tech. If we beat them, then we beat a SEC team. We don't get to say that too often
Not me. I liked the UGA and A&M deals. Fuq UM tho.
I just think Arkansas is a "meh" option. As in, I'm impartial to it. They could be good or bad by then, so it has nothing to do with difficulty. They are a middle of the road SEC team. Florida or Auburn would have been better if we went that route. I would like a Bama or TN matchup too. At least some historical significance with those. I just don't really care about Arkansas.
Exactly. Would have rather added TCU, Baylor, Rice or SMU. Get into Texas against teams you should beat. Go where the players are.
Plus, who knows what 2025 brings with Arkansas, A&M or even Purdue. Add SC, Miami, Stanford (if they extend the contract) and the ACC teams and that could be no fun.
But hey... If Lou's happy, I'm happy.
Here's the 2025 schedule:
09/13 - Purdue
09/27 - Texas A&M
10/04 - at Arkansas
TBA - at Boston College
TBA - at Miami, FL
TBA - Navy
TBA - NC State
TBA - at Pittsburgh
TBA - Syracuse
TBA - USC
Stanford is only contracted out to 2024. If they extend it that makes 11 then you schedule a cupcake to round it out.

1. We're playing Texas A@M as well.
2. Arkansas recruits a ton in Texas and Louisiana so those kids will notice.
Florida or Auburn would be risky. I don't think they'll middle of the road SEC teams in 2020; they'll probably be good again. Depending on what our schedule looks like, scheduling a top 5 or top 10 team wouldn't be a wise decision. Like you, I want them to schedule Tennessee. I've been asking for that for a few years now. I wouldn't mind Ole Miss or Mississippi State either.
A game against Arkansas is fine because beating a team that has the SEC patch on their jersey is good for media purposes and it's good for team morale.
Simply put, I like that Jack and BK are dipping their toes in the SEC water. I like that UGA is coming this year, that they scheduled Arkansas, and that they scheduled Vandy. I'm always a fan of playing new teams.
1. Which I noted twice in the post.
2. But they won't be at the game, they'll be 5-10 hrs away at home.
Wait... I thought when you were berating me because you thought I believed they were too tough of an opponent for us to play? But you don't like Auburn or Florida because they would be too tough of an opponent? Ha
Arkansas has been pretty much a .500 team since Bielema started. I'm not sure I see that going any different
If Bielema isn't there anymore it could.
