Tinkering in a one score game is not acceptable. He should've learned his lesson last year with Northern Illinois. That's disrespectful to the game and how hard it is to win to tinker with things instead do what is the right thing and get your two yards and move the sticks and try the stupid shit you want to "tinker"with on first down
Yeah. 4th and inches is one thing, 4th and 3rd after we've already missed another 4th down attempt, take the points.I love Freeman's aggression, but he should've kicked the second time. Sometimes you have to take the points to create some separation.
The only complaint I have is the fades to Faison. Throw those to the bigger guys.
Short yardage needs to have some under center plays. Ridiculous to be playing out of shotgun with 4 & inches. Just stupid and BS 4th down cute lame calls by denbrock.Yeah, the offense did well overall, but there is room for improvement. This is actually very promising, because the offense is already really good, but it could be truly elite. It's still good enough to make a deep run if things break the right way, but first, USC.
I mean it is golden, so he's kinda repping ND...Lose the grill brutha. It’s ND
I got married yesterday, so I didn’t watch the game.
They seriously picked this flag up? I know it was a desperation throw by Carr, but c’mon lol.
That’s two terrible officiating jobs in a row now.

Seems to me they’re trying to get Love in a rhythm before bringing in Price. IMO you rotate early to see if one or the other appears to have the hotter hand.I have said it and i know others have as well, but the rotation that they use with Love and Price doesn’t make sense. The one drive Love broke off an 18 yarder I believe it was and he had a run before that for a few yards. That’s when you bring Price in. They are beat and the 2 previous runs were more physical. Then bring in the speed and burned them.
Price didn’t help himself with the fumble either late in the game.
Ehhh I don't know, true freshman got beat on one double move, didn't really notice much the rest of the game, usually a good sign. Don't think Smith is athletic as Golden. We have to get the nickel position figured out. I really thought Golden was faster than he is. Looks like a safety trying to play man to man and just fully out of place. Right now until they force nickels to tackle you gotta put a guy in that can play man. Hopefully Smith can play this week.
Was he close at all to playing yesterday or his he going to be out for awhile?
The rotation is set: Love gets the first two series of the game and then Price comes in for the third. After that, it's less structured, but Love has been getting a lot more time than Price regardless of results.Seems to me they’re trying to get Love in a rhythm before bringing in Price. He seemed pretty fast catching back up after getting burned, on the td throw. He was damn close to actually tipping that ball away.We have to get the nickel position figured out. your last paragraph, I’ve been screaming for this since game one. You have a lead blocker if Love keeps, you can hand off or read the endI didn’t get to see any of the game (I don’t have Peacock), but looked at the box score and watched some highlights.
One critique I have is the consistent “going for it” on 4th and short. What do some coaches have against points? You’re at home, against an inferior opponent, and you’re still “breaking in” a green QB — take the points and build off the momentum. Failing to convert can cost teams games (see Georgia vs Alabama).
Also, per the highlights, it looks like they get too cute on some of the 4th ground attempts — I hated the Carr rollout on 4th and inches. It’s 4th and inches … don’t overthink it. What happened to the I-formation, having a fullback stick his hand in the turf, and using your beasts of RBs to run behind?
Lastly, building off the previous paragraph, in terms of getting innovative, offensively, I still don’t know why they don’t put Love (or Price) at QB (in shotgun) and have the other back next to them. Imagine for a moment having to defend both of those backs …. Houston Nutt did that to LSU’s championship team when they had McFadden, Felix Jones, and Peyton Hillis and it utterly destroyed us.
