Waiting for the announcement that the Sixers have fired Doc Rivers. I assume it's coming.

Mark Jackson is being reported as a serious candidate for the Bucks job.

LeBron with a casual 30/9/9 in year 20 to knock out the defending NBA champions
His career numbers are really starting to stack up in both the traditional counting stats and analytics alike. Especially in the playoffs.

Magic had 30 career playoff triple doubles. LeBron sits at 28.

His playoff record is horrendous for the talent he's coached.

He's 111-104 which puts him fourth all time in playoff wins behind Phil, Riley and Popp. He's also now on his fourth job. I think maybe at this point the front offices should start looking around for someone new?

If Mark Jackson is the next coach then I think it's time to start speculating who Giannis' next team will be
He has had one coaching job ever but hasn't coached in the league in nearly ten years. I guess there is no harm in interviewing him but I have a hard time understanding why they would do that other than fish for information.

Monty Williams is out there but his next job would be number three on his resume. Kenny Atkinson and Nick Nurse are also available. Adrian Griffin is out there as well.

Open jobs:
  • Bucks
  • Pistons
  • Raptors
  • Suns

Don't remember the exact stat, but someone on the radio mentioned his record in game 6 close out or game 7's is something like 11-18. Looks like if he doesn't close out a series early, he's not going to advance.

its going to be the spurs or hornets
Nice call.

Scoot Henderson could fall to third if Charlotte goes with Miller from Alabama. Could be a steal for them. I like Cam Whitmore from Villanova. Curious to see where he falls. Not lower than fifth I'd guess right now.

Denver looks like their playing better with each game. Nobody is slowing down the Joker and it doesn't help the Lakers that James is showing his age. Looks to me like he may need more than a day between games to get his energy back. I suspect LA will come out rolling in Game 3 with Game 4 being the key.

Malone switching up Jokic's rest pattern paid off. Jamal Murray was awesome in the end.

I think the altitude set in on those old legs last night too. It's Austin Reaves team now :)

Honestly annoyed that the Lakers didn't hold on last night just because I want this series to go to 7. Extremely fun basketball to watch.

Dud conference finals but the Finals should be pretty good.

Not entirely shocked by the Celtics.

“I got a lot to think about… Just personally, with me moving forward with the game of basketball, I got a lot to think about.”

Very cryptic stuff from 38 years of age LeBron James. 40/10/9 in 47 minutes last night. He's up there with Kareem, Wilt, Jordan, Karl Malone. This could be hinting at retirement, with leaving the Lakers, who knows. I do think the game is in a good place in terms of star power but there is also balance compared to when he first arrived.

The Nuggets and Heat are not super teams in terms of their rosters by any stretch. I am hoping that is a turning point for the game, but you get the sense that it could easily happen again. Just a matter of who and where.

It will definitely happen again. The small rosters and obsession with championship numbers held by individual players makes it inevitable. All it takes is one superstar wing to say "Yeah I'll go to Denver" in free agency and we'd already be there.

I'd be surprised if Lebron really wants to retire; he's been vocal that he wants to be in the league until Bronny is (though who knows how long that will be).

An observation which might be true: Most NBA powerhouses have been built around "Big threes." Denver isn't built that way. It's built around Jokic with the explosive guard and a variety of very hard-working defender-shooters. It has in fact about 8 of those guys. One point is that the team make-up doesn't interfere with Jokic's talent. He can do his stuff every play if it's available. Contrast that with the addition of Irving to Dallas. Suddenly Doncic's stuff was markedly bent out of shape --- especially psychologically. With both on the court, the spontaneity left, and it was stated that by season's end (as Dallas tanked) Doncic was no longer "joyful" playing ball. The "fun" had left. Denver doesn't do that.

Watching some of these other would-be powerhouses convinces me that either the Alpha Males have to REALLY like one another, or that there is really only ONE Alpha and the others stay out of his way (a la Lebron.) James obviously decides what's going on, never for instance Davis. Irving in that mix? Maybe ONLY Lebron could dampen the subtle toxicity he brings ... and if Dallas got big things in return, it would be Xmas for Doncic.

Commentators are still talking about Big Threes, but I wonder if it isn't Denver that got it right --- Big One plus sometimes explosive sidekick, plus a whole bench full of attack maniacs, all of which work on their shooting open shots and all of which pride themselves as everyplay defenders. When Jokic rests, the five out there are STILL making life miserable for the opponent because they challenge everything. That's basketball for me. Lebron James is the greatest athlete I've ever seen in basketball, and would have won game four by himself if he had the gas --- but even if he HAD the gas for the whole series, I believe that Jokic and the ravaging hoard would have won. Every guy on that team knows he has an important job and relishes it.

LeBron was gassed last night in the second half. I saw one possession where he just stood outside the 3 point line and didn’t move the entire time. Van Gundy called him out on it during the broadcast. Not saying this loss is on him, but he certainly came up short when it mattered most.

He came up short? He had nearly a 40 point triple double in an elimination game.

Damn you're a hater lol.

Also Van Gundy showed why he can't get a job last night. "Why doesn't the 38 year old who's already scored 30 in the first half merely attack the rim every possession and guard Jokic at the 5???" What a clown.

He could do it at one point in his career, those days are over. Father Time remains undefeated. Did all he could last night.

Sorry to offend the LeBron fan club, but 31 of those 40 came in the first half. He had 9 in the second and was 1-6 in the 4th quarter when it mattered most. He couldn’t get a shot off to tie the game. Those aren’t stats I made up because I’m a hater. You guys can double check if you think I’m wrong. It’s also not all on him. Nobody else stepped up in the second half either. They got outplayed, outcoached, and outhustled. The Lakers were ND vs Oklahoma State last night.

I played a fair amount of BBall. I played with some guys who did all they could to win a game. Some went out as fast as they could, and gassed in the end. I never blamed nor criticized them (I saw one guy make such an effort that he had to leave the game to barf all over the place.) . I admired what James tried to do last game. He just couldn't do it, but he tried his dammednest. The loss was on his teammates not on him, in my opinion. I saw a fabulous athlete who is just too near the end of his playing days to go all four quarters. Once upon a time he might have pulled it off --- almost did anyway.
