Navy Post-Game Thoughts

Yet you take the time to make a post about him. Sometimes you crack me up my friend.

Yeah - saying whatever he's getting at on his tweet - don't sweat it because he's a non-factor.

So it's like exactly the opposite of what you're saying. Just because you post about it doesn't mean it's eating away at your skin.

If I post in the hip-hop thread that I actually never really cared for NAS's music, it's not like I have a NAS poster I stab every night before going to bed. Just don't care for his jams.

It sure seemed like a lot more.

That is because they took 40 minutes to do it. Their first drive was 11 plays for 33 yards taking 6 minutes 9 seconds off the clock. That is one yard every 11 seconds - a freaking turtle can cover more ground than that.

Yup, they are 1st in TOP and we are 105th in TOP so something had to give. Their TOP was also 6 minutes longer than their average at 42 minutes, so they essentially our defense was on the field for 3 whole quarters.

17 points and 318 yards is the least points and yards Navy has achieved all season.

Said the same thing in a different thread. If Fink doesn't bone that return and we don't get the BS horse collar penalty we give up ten points or less and 250 total yards. Hated the fourth down conversions and blocks where we were getting hashed for 7-8 yards but in the end we got the results and the Offense should have posted at least 35 points. That's on Long and Wimbush IMO.

Bro the Irish had 9 possessions. 1 of them was the fumble by Finke and the other one was the kneel down to run the clock out. That leaves 7 possessions and the Irish scored on 4 of them. That is pretty efficient. I'm mostly upset that we didn't convert that first red zone opportunity into 7 instead of 3.

My issue with the offense starts with the opening drive. 3 straight passes in that weather? Blah. The old Kelly is back and that stinks.

It's on the defense. While they were held to a season low in yardage, they ate up the clock. That falls on the sloppy tackling. We had two third and longs, one for 12 or 14 yards and the other was for 16 yards. In both instances Navy converted those with a run play. I was disappointed that Elko didn't use a corner blitz once in awhile to disrupt Navy's flow.

As far as opening with a pass, this isn't the first time Long has done that. Because the Irish are known as a run team, I think he's trying to soften them up a little with passes to start the game so they won't stack the box. JMO

Except old Kelly was so stubborn that he would have continued with that plan(NCState 2016) and not adjusted. That wasn't the case Saturday.

Yeah I dont get this guy. One hand catches in practice with all the physical gifts one can ask for and....still sucking.

As for BW, I dont know what to think. A QB that cannot complete more than 50% of this throws? That sounds like a RB or WR to me. Did that Mich QB a while back who became a WR in the pros have similar issues (except when playing ND when he had 99% pass completion)?

The thing about Mack is, I've never really seen him make any plays that show me he has 5 star talent. With guys like Lynch, Tuitt, Manti, Floyd, etc... you saw them make plays early on that flashed their talents. Maybe it's just the position of TE but I've never seen him do anything out of the ordinary. I hope he comes back though.

He doesn't even stand out athletically. Do you watch him and think "wow that's a fast TE?" Even if he dropped the pass, I can't remember a time where I thought he looked like a mismatch and hard to cover.

To me he's an average D1 TE with below average hands that has really good tweets.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but I agree with Koon. Excuse me while I go take a shower.

I think they were trying to give Wimbush a confidence boost with some gimmes. Didn't work, unfortunately.

Agree. I'm generally a Coach D fan (I know he can drive many crazy) but he really whiffed on his assessment of Mack coming out of high school. Believe he called him the best TE prospect he had ever seen (or something along those lines). I was probably just expecting too much because of all the hype.

He started with two straight passes then a failed pass run and went three and out. We went three and out twice out of basically 6 possessions. I agree that we should have stopped them at
East two more times but not capitalizing on all our early possessions allowed Navy to run run run.
