I'm fine playing Navy, I just hate it. It does nothing for us, we have everything to lose in this rivalry.
...yea, gotta reach across and get under the armpit or grab jersey. too close to not call for a Navy kid...guys ya gotta know anything that looks wrong is going to be handed to Navy...couple calls were exactly that...probably would not have been called in a ND vs Georgia game...but will be called for Navy.
Playing Navy is like a root canal without any pain meds. This game was only close because we tackled poorly. Frustrating to see 3rd and long and they run for 8 - 18yds and get the first down. Get 2 or 3 stops in the game and the score isn't close.
It's like with that bogus cut block call on Bars. They didn't even go through with it. Bars disengaged as soon as he realized, and the defensive guy stayed on his feet the whole time. Yet, a flag and 15 yards. Because, Navy!

The irony of that call was insane, given how many times Navy in the past has gotten away with illegal blocks. It was a ticky tack call = 40 yard penalty wiping out the run.
Also, Navy on about 6 or 7 occasions got a spot a full yard further than they should've from the line judge.

I commented to somebody in the gameday thread who asked if he was the only seeing generous spots. Until his post I thought it was just me. On one play Abey went up the middle into traffic. He had the ball cradle low in his midsection to prevent a strip. After being tackled, laying on his back on the ground, he extend the ball in one hand over his head advancing the ball a yard to a yard and a half. There was an official looking straight at the play from a few yards away. I was sure he would respot the ball correctly. Instead he put it in play at the point where Abey had stretched after being downed. Tough to stop a team that plays 4 down football particularly when they get boosted spots.
My humble opinion is that Notre Dame will never again be an elite football program. You have a priest who is a scholar running the joint, an educated lawyer type egghead as AD and a bungular for a coach. Get rid of the afrementioned (3) bums and maybe the football team/program has a chance of being elite again!
A scholarly priest runs the school you say? It's almost like it's a Catholic institution of higher learning and not just a place to play football?!STLin01,
I agree with most of your points but have exceptions with # 6 & 7. Regarding Finke on his fumble.....He caught the ball with no problem but when he tried to make a little extra out of it it got slapped out of his paws. He should have just fair caught it.
Your right about the penalties. In fact, I saw once where the 40 second clock hit zero and the ref's did not call delay of game on Navy. Instead they allowed a time out call by Niumataloa (sic).

Spots looked horrible live from Section 24, watching on TV would have given me a stroke based on what you are saying. For refs to do that for Navy should be criminal - they live by inches and given yards.
How is there no mention here of EQ getting destroyed thanks to ANOTHER really high throw opening him up like that? It isn't just INTs and incompletes - maybe those WRs wouldn't drop so many if they had some confidence in their QB NOT getting them killed. Also that Mack overthrow on a couple yard pitch.... WTF? Drive killer
So Wimbush sucking balls, Newsome 27 yard punt, Finke fumble... yet BK's fault Navy is up 10-3 one minute before the half?
Defense needs to get off the field against Navy. 80 plays with multiple drives lasting half a freaking quarter (first drive 6+ minutes, second drive 7+ minutes, get a stop on third drive to turn the field on Finke's fumble after which they take five minutes to get a TD, then start the second half with a damn 8 minute TD drive). It was almost like our D didn't know they were going for it on third down - to Navy 4th and short is winning football.
All you need to do to beat Navy is stop them early, score yourself and make them play from behind. We did the opposite and handed them every opportunity to stay in the game.
For all that is holy, I hope Kelly chooses to kick if we win the toss Saturday. Wimbush is such a first quarter flake I cannot imagine how you validate the choice to receive at this point.

The play that stuck out the most to me was one time we got a tackle behind the LOS for ~1.5 yard loss and the line judge marked it "no gain"... I'm sitting there like he never once got anywhere close to the LOS at any part during that play, how on earth can that be your spot?
Sometimes I really wonder about officiating... blown calls happen, that's fine. But when one singular official (in this case, the line judge) routinely blows calls all in one team's favor you have to wonder if it's incompetence or something else.
Yeah I dont get this guy. One hand catches in practice with all the physical gifts one can ask for and....still sucking.
As for BW, I dont know what to think. A QB that cannot complete more than 50% of this throws? That sounds like a RB or WR to me. Did that Mich QB a while back who became a WR in the pros have similar issues (except when playing ND when he had 99% pass completion)?
If this is alluding to him going pro, lol.
The Twitter Prince can take his 8 catches and 14 drops to underrated free agency for all I care. I have no doubt our freshman TE can match his production.
Obviously I'm going out on an assumption here, but if this isn't indicative of him wanting to leave to the NFL, what a stupid tweet either way.
If this is hus careee at ND, he would have fit in better at UCLA and their underachieving style.
Smell ya later

I'm incorrectly considered a 'stars' guy, but I literally do not care if Alize stays or goes. He's not even an important part of the offense for us, and I believe the younger guys will be better immediately.
BW's problem is both poor accuracy and bad play calling. He has certain down the field throws and crossing routes he excels at (or at least doesn't screw up). And Long should call more of those.
But he also can't hit an 8 yard hook. And that's on him, not the play calling. If a WR is 8 yards and standing staring at you, and you can't hit it, that's not the play call. That's you.
1. Take a deep breath and hold for 5 seconds.
2. Think of unicorns and cotton candy.
3. Slowly exhale.
I couldn't care less what he does. That's the whole point.
Not sure how I could be less calm about it.
For those on this thread who are Notre Dame graduates, would you trade your Notre Dame degree for one from Alabama or Ohio State?

17 points and 318 yards is the least points and yards Navy has achieved all season.
