I told my dad I had started saving some cash to go to Ireland for the game, so he asked when it was. I told him Sept 1, so he answers, "Oh, damn, I'm getting married the day before that." And that's how I found out that my dad was getting married, and that I would not be leaving the country for the first time.

I told him I would attend his wedding only if he is okay with me drinking, yelling, and generally being a nuisance in the hotel hallways the next morning at 7am when I start to prepare for the game. He enjoyed this idea.

So, I plan on getting up at 6:45am in the hotel, getting a nice hungover shower in, and then cracking open my first beer and powering through the hangover with Rolling Rock and some breakfast. Then I will wake everyone in the general area up with a stirring rendition of the Victory March, before leaving to watch the game in a clubhouse on a golf course, as my coworkers take part in a golf outing at 10:00am. It's gonna be a great 48 hours.

Watching the game in my (dorm) room with friends.

I did decide that I would start my own tradition by watching Rudy before every first game of the season, which means I will be starting the movie around 6 in the morning.

Can't wait!

Work and there is no way around it for me. I will be having it DVR'd but I haven't decided if I will follow along via Twitter or ignore that sort of stuff all day and watch it when I get home.

I'd recommend ignoring it. It just ruins the whole game for me if I watch it and already know the outcome. This happened to me last year for the PITT game, I was recording it when my friend texted me about the ending. It ruined the whole game for me

I hear you but my problem is I work until 2 PM. I will try to ignore it and I tell my wife, don't even think about telling me about the game, just hope other family members follow as well.

I am kind of at a loss for what to do. Normally i would do a massive bit of wings or ribs, chip dips, and beer. Since it will be so early i think I'm going to make some "heat attack on a plate"s and hopefully will have a great day rejoicing after the game.

Same for me. Pre warn everyone not to spill the beans and watch it without knowing.

That's a double edged sword for me. I have people who would ruin it just because..sometimes I could ninja my way through it.

basically, I fire up the grill, and BBQ about 3lbs of carne asada with tortillas and homemade salsa. I can pick at that for most of the game.

I have found that the carne asada really gets me ready to drop my first f-bomb of the year, and traditionally that first salvo f-bomb is always fired across Tom Hammonds bow, sometimes just on GP.

Hard to plan for because my hours will either be 2:30pm - 10:30 pm which means I would probably wake up and make a good breakfast, then after the game take a nap before work.

But if plans go accordingly I may get a new shift from 11pm - 7am, which in that case I will be sipping on some sort of alcoholic beverage. Not sure about food. But who really needs food if you have something to drink?

This sounds delicious. How do you make your green chile?

I've got to coach a freshman football game in Avon, Indiana and then race home to watch it. A bowl of cereal and a beer will be on the coffee table in front of me. Go Irish!

Irish whiskey (Jameson's Gold Reserve, Bushmills 1608 400th anniversary, Redbreast 12 CS and Redbreast 15yo, are in the cabinet). Corned beef hash and some biscuits and gravy for breakfast with a side of bacon. Basically I am trying to clog my arteries.

I will not set my alarm, as I plan on being woken up at about 7am (for some reason a 2 year old and a 6 year old refuse to sleep in on weekends). Then I will take a Triple S. Then, kindly ask the wife and kids to keep it down to a dull roar so I can watch some FOOTBALL IN PEACE!! I also plan in partaking in the last few Bell's Oberons of the summer.

I don't know what I'm going to be doing, but it's going to be flippin' sweet to wake up and be able to immediately turn on the game as opposed to waiting an agonizingly-long time to a 3:42 kickoff on NBC.

Usually start the season with a shot Jameson's. Going to be rough this year.

I plan on big ole breakfast with bloodies. Then smokin some chicken wings. Followed by a nice steak about halftime of Alabama and Scum game.

How many people from IE are actually going to the game?

Apparently 30,000 people are going to see the game, and I'm supposing that a lot of those are Irish fans from America. I was shocked to think how many people were going to leave to see it. I'm surprised to see that most of YOU guys--supposedly the die hardest of the die hards--are just gonna watch it on tv. Now I'm even more shocked to realize that so many are traveling out of the country to see the game.

I too will watch it on tv. I'll either go to the graduate residence community center to watch in hopes that they'll serve free food (as they usually do on away games). If not, I'll go to Legends. Anyone following?

Watching Rudy the night before, getting up at 7:30 CST take a quick shower while listening to "Here come the Irish, Down the Line, Hike Hike Hike, Alma Mater.......ect., all the while pissing off my O$U roommate. Taking an Irish Car bomb before kickoff and rotating between shots of Jameson, bottles of Guinness (in a frosty mug) during the 1st and 2nd quarters. Passing out and pissing myself around half time or the beginning of the 3rd and hope to wake up in time to see victory by the end of the 4th.

I'll be watching the game at home. Not enough time or money to take a trip to Dublin. Nothin' fancy to eat, just some cereal and some coffee. I will be watching the game alone too, considering it starts at 9 AM. It'll be a nice, relaxed environment... Well, until the game starts.

Go Irish!!

Has anyone downloaded Ken O'Malley's "Tailgating Songs in the Celtic/Irish Tradition" ?! I got it off of ITunes and I think the songs are pretty good. I'll have those bumping early that AM to wake me up!
