Leader Kicking (the Irish equivalent of ProKick which has been so successful for Australian specialists) is starting to roll now after a bunch of 2027 commitments. Wouldn't be surprised to see Notre Dame entertain some of their recruits in the near future

Anotha one. Ain’t no fun when the rabbit (every other school) has the gun (money)

I'm prematurely annoyed about this upcoming house settlement because it means that a lot of this money will go back to being underground and the teams that have always cheated by paying players under the table will get their advantage back.

Hope I'm wrong but it feels like there's no way to put guardrails on this stuff without giving bad actors an advantage.

He makes a great point
It does take some self awareness for him to look at a place like Oregon objectively. It was never going to be able to spend its way to the big boys table. That it got close (two natty appearances in 5 years) to winning was very impressive.

It will be kinda fun to see what happens when Phil's money is gone. University of North Dakota's blood money donor died like 15 years ago and their athletics department has basically cried uncle.

That and the whole name change were tough. Ralph died in ‘02, though, and they’ve won a national championship and made the frozen four 8 times since then.

And they were MV Co-Champs in football in 2020;)

My SC buddy told me that Phil made sure there were other highly placed Oregon people in Nike so it's not all tied to him. Who knows how true it is, but they might not completely fall off after Phil goes to his eternal reward

Since the Big Ten Championship on 12/7, from 12/8 on Oregon has exactly one 2026 commit, a 3 star safety. Almost 6 months.

I get finishing strong and they usually do close late, but can’t help to see something has changed. USC, Washington have chipped away with some early H2H wins in 2026.

It's pretty nuts how bad everything is going up there. Hockey will be fine, but everything else is....not great bob.

Didn't realize it's been over 20 years since he died!

It will be interesting to see what happens. I have to imagine whatever Knight wanted to do, they did without argument. Even with some Oregon folks on staff, it may be more difficult to get approval to keep shoveling money towards Eugene. A quick google shows he owns 17.4% of Nike's stock. Much lower than I would have guessed. Wife is 75. Knights son is in the movie business. I'm guessing they will inherit his stock and voting rights. Since he graduated from Portland St., his son may not share the same enthusiasm for the Ducks.

By default it seems unlikely he shares the same enthusiasm. Portland State is a commuter school though. The sports fans in that student body probably are fans of one of the major Oregon or Washington schools.

Welcome to non P4 student bodies. Among FCS schools, probably only the Dakota and Montana schools have student bodies with any loyalty to the school they attend.

What’s the story with Wesley? Is he expected to go elsewhere soon, or did the check not clear?

State Penn is losing left and right and I am here for it.

Latest kid to flip is a QB from my hometown in PA. Payton Falzone. Announced yesterday that he is now verbal to Auburn 😂
Also, university-wide, they’ve got another sexual abuse situation on their hands with their star wrestler Carter Starocci. Not a very happy time in Happy Valley…

While it's great to see PSU bleeding recruits, the Falzone news was expected when Troy Huhn, another QB, committed earlier this week.

Still...love to see it.

I knew there were a few Pennsylvania guys on this site who hated Penn State due to daily exposure, but I did not know that there was this much built in angst about them in the 2025 fanbase. We're applauding every misfortune like they're Michigan all of the sudden.

I didn't really have an opinion on them either way until the Paterno stuff came out. To see the fanbase rally around the entire program as if they had done nothing wrong really, really bothered me.

I've also despised Franklin since his days with Vanderbilt. He's pure sleaze, and I knew a lot of kids he tried to recruit to Nashville during his time there that have stories that would drain the blood from your face. And his actions while he's been at PSU have done nothing to dissuade me from my opinion, and the press conference with Freeman where he 1) tried to little brother MF for the entire thing, and then 2) bizarely decided it was time to make a statement about ND joining a conference locked up my distaste for him as a person.

So...fanbase + Franklin = me rooting for bad things to happen to that program.

I cheer against them unless they’re playing OSU or Michigan.
