I watched a 2019 Netflix original movie today called Fractured. It was a psychological thriller/mystery. Guy and his wife take their injured daughter to the ER and they disappear, with the hospital claiming they have no record of treating his daughter and that he came in alone. You don't know for sure until the very end if he's nuts, the hospital is killing people, or what. Sort of predictable and familiar, but well done and worth the watch.

There was a day.. Hollywood actually allowed people to think for oneself...

I have no idea why call these trailers, when they're actually previews. I guess the same reason you drive on a parkway and park on a driveway?

The term "trailer" dates back to the distribution of movies on reels of film. The reels were always distributed un-rewound (the theater about to show the film first had to rewind it, as early experience showed the danger of expecting an incoming film to have been rewound). Therefore, the end of the movie was the most accessible part, to which previews were spliced, "trailing" the film.

And I think they are called driveways because they are they provide the "way" to where you drive. (not to mention most people parked in a Garage) Not sure how someone came up with a parkway.

That, and also because back in the day, theaters showed two movies - a B movie and then the feature movie. The "previews" that "trailed" the B movie, allowed people to get up for popcorn and bathroom, without leaving a boring empty period for everyone else. Thus, they called them "trailers."

Sounds right. How many hits off the dabs have you taken?

I don´t even want to know what that means.

And, you couldn´t put a "preview" on the feature movie because no actor, actress, director, producer would allow anyone else to precede their movie.

Worth watching. It started too slow for me. I was about to flip to something else when I decided to give it a few more minutes. Definitely keeps you guessing.

Caught the first episode on Yellowstone. Keep it coming.

Alone is already interesting after just two episodes.

Watched an Amazon Prime movie called My Spy. Kids type movie. Big bad CIA agent meets his match in a little girl. Found it to be pretty good and a nice change of pace.

Also watched Furthest Witness. In old movie lingo, definitely a bad B movie. Bad actors, bad script, etc.

Watched Suicide Kings again this weekend. If you have never seen it, do. You can't go wrong with Leary and Walken

Watched the comedy The Hot Rock from 1972. Starred Robert Redford and George Segal. Guys agree to steal a diamond, but keep having obstacles popup. Worth the watch IMO.

Watched Ghost Busters today while my Furnace was being installed. Bill Murray was
classic Bill Murray.

Also watched Ferris Buellers Day Off. Highly recommend it for anyone who’s never seen it.

Yes it's true, this man has no dick.

Classic. Me and the wife saw it the other day at the theater. Neither of us had seen it before, it came out well before our time. We both really enjoyed it. It holds up well.

A buddy of mine from HS (Jimmy Mad Dog Matis's nephew) can quote every line from this movie.

He'll keep calling me. He'll keep calling me until I come over. He'll make me feel guilty. Look, I'll go. I'll go. I'll go. I'll go. Shit, I'll go.

Oscars academy sets out new diversity standards for best picture contenders
https://www.reuters.com/article/us-...rds-for-best-picture-contenders-idUSKBN26002D

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - The body that hands out the Academy Awards on Tuesday published detailed inclusion and diversity guidelines that filmmakers will have to meet in order for their work to be eligible for a best picture Oscar, starting in 2024.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, which has been criticized for honoring few movies and creators of color, said the standards represent a new phase of a 5-year effort to promote diversity on and off screen.

The rules lay out percentages or numbers of actors, production staff, marketing staff and internships on a movie that must be filled by people of color, women, people with disabilities or people from the LGBTQ community.

Hope this is good.
Loved the use of the Floyd song, but really should have just used the original.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and predict it's better than the '84 version. That was a train wreck of a film. I'd rather watch 3-D geezer porn from a nursing home than see that movie again.

Drax the Destroyer, Thanos, Poe Dameron, Anton, and Khal Drogo in the same movie? Villeneuve is directing?!

I'm in.

Idk, the trailer looks really mediocre to me, and I didn't like the use of "Eclipse". I'll watch because I trust Villeneuve, but this doesn't get me any more excited.

I enjoyed the 84 version for what it was. Yes, bad effects, but still enjoyed the story.
I just hope they don't overdo the new version lol.

The used the Floyd song because they were supposed to score a version back in the 80s that fell through. Agree it was an odd choice though.

I didn't really care for the trailer either. Weird tone to it. But I trust Villeneuve as well. Plus this was the same thing with BR2049. Trailer pandered to general audiences to try and sell tickets and made it look like a generic Sci-fi action film, which turned out to be totally different than the actual movie which is a slow plodding masterpiece.

Watched Gemini Man with Will Smith. They did a great job of making his clone look 25 years younger. I give it 4 out of 5 stars.
