Even if they did see it, that wouldn’t matter because as you note…they’re brainwashed. Facts take a back seat to a narrative and you can’t rationalize with the irrational.

Just take the truth, then spin. There are many examples, this one is just more disgusting because it has to do with the well-being of children, our most vulnerable and beloved.

The way I see, those on social media criticizing this movie for something that it isn’t…simply means they are pro-pedophila. Which is disgusting but as someone else pointed out, there are a lot of monsters out there, so not all that surprising.

If there was a grey line with politics in the movie I could see where even the brainwashed would come away still trying to spin it, but no. Nobody can rationally make that connection, the movie is nothing more than the tale of Ballard trying to rescue some kids from trafficking. That's why it's so silly seeing these people parroting the narrative when it completely doesn't exist.

Seems like an anti-riot song to me. But we’ll all frame it to our prejudices. Songs not that good anyway.

Sucker punch somebody on a sidewalk
Carjack an old lady at a red light
Pull a gun on the owner of a liquor store
Ya think it's cool, well, act a fool if ya like
Cuss out a cop, spit in his face
Stomp on the flag and light it up
Yeah, ya think you're tough
Well, try that in a small town
See how far ya make it down the road
Around here, we take care of our own
You cross that line, it won't take long
For you to find out, I recommend you don't
Try that in a small town
Got a gun that my granddad gave me
They say one day they're gonna round up
Well, that shit might fly in the city, good luck
Try that in a small town
See how far ya make it down the road
Around here, we take care of our own
You cross that line, it won't take long
For you to find out, I recommend you don't
Try that in a small town
Full of good ol' boys, raised up right
If you're looking for a fight
Try that in a small town
Try that in a small town
Try that in a small town
See how far ya make it down the road
Around here, we take care of our own
You cross that line, it won't take long

Google where the video was shot and what happened there in 1927.

Also five years ago Aldean came out and said it was "too easy" for people to get their hands on guns. He realized this wasn't a popular statement for his "base" and then went full Murica. Also he cheated on his wife but sings about what a good christian man he is. I could go on..

dublin claims that the song is a lynching song, but the lyrics were written before the music video was filmed. so, you can't use filming site as an argument that the song is pro-lynching.

Also, did Aldean direct the video? (answer: he did not). Did he choose the filming location? It is rare that the music artist is also the video director. Bring your facts before you spew accusations.

also - you throw some ad hominem attacks against Aldean. Does his behavior justify the censoring? What about other musical artists that bow the knee to cultural pressure, or are unfaithful in their marriages? should their music videos be banned too?

I made it about a minute into the song before I shut it off and googled the lyrics. Hate the sound.

Had heard a little bit about the video earlier today. Didn't hear anything about where the video was shot. Definitely changes my perspective. Unless someone can come up with a VERY good explanation as to why this site was chosen, then this site was intentionally chosen to appeal to some bad people.

Pfft. Yeah and Boston had race riots 50 years so any film shot there…
Seems you’re on the war path, spurred by the media, looking to construe anything though so continue.

That courthouse is Nashville’s courthouse where he lives. Sounds like he just went to his local courthouse. Actually it’s a US Federal Court

Nashville appears to be in Davidson County. Maury County is just outside of Nashville. If it's the county that he lives in, I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. If it's not, someone needs to provide an explanation on why that site was chosen.

Looks like he at least lived in Columbia, TN up until 2019 which is where Maury County Courthouse is located. Not sure where he lives now. But at least it appears to have some connection. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.

I have no idea how someone could find this controversial. Or Sound of Freedom for that matter.

Elon Musk may be right, wokeness is a mental virus. There's nothing controversial about this video.

While I'm fine with the music video, there is a difference between it and Sound of Freedom. The music video deals in Politics, Sound of Freedom does not. I wouldn't equate the two because of that.

I don’t know Jason Aldean. Sorry, can’t play along. I love many forms of music, but country isn’t one.

I’ll read down further soon but sounds like your spinning now. Something you care disclose?

He is a prominent country musician. His peak was probably ~10 years ago? Still a big name. His song is basically a shitty version of "the night the lights went out in Georgia."

I’m sure he’s a great musician but as Dublin notes, probably the wrong thread…although he brought it here.

And The Sound of Freedom is a 14 million dollar movie starring Jim Caviezel made by a studio no one has ever heard of.

They're equally irrelevant.

This is such a brilliant angle. I'm gonna steal it.

Start a chain of restaurants. Make it known that I give 10% of all proceeds to charities that support stopping child trafficking. Then anyone that criticizes my business or people involved with it I can just call pedophiles!

My point is and stands clear. Anyone criticizing this movie (even deflecting to a country music video) from what it is, is pro-petofilia. Nothing more or less.

It’s nuts that we can’t agree on a topic that SHOULD be so agreeable. But here we are.

The greatest irony is that Jason Aldean, who probably really thought he had something with that song, (1) didn’t even grow up in a small town, and (2) didn’t even write the shitty song.

So now he gets to deal with the backlash for a while, when he was just trying to get an easy hit out there. He’s taking the fire for the song writers (lazy country narrative) and video director (didn’t do nearly enough research).

Probably be good for his business in the end, though, so I think he’ll be okay lol.
