Gonna miss Chipper but this should free up some money to go get a bat or 2 into the lineup. Hoping that the Braves make a nice run in his final post season.

Let McCann walk (if someone is willing to pay big money for him) or bring him back at a reduced rate, use Chipper money to resign Bourn and go after Chase Headley. I'd be ok with that moving forward.

Chipper never struck out more then 99 times in a season. Considering he hit 468 HRs, pretty damn good. Also walked 103 more times then he struck out, also damn good. I'm a Mets fan but damn do I respect him. Not to mention he averaged over .300 for his career and was a switch hitter. Just look and marvel at his stats.

Ya, I disagree with that call. Must be an ordinary play for the infielder. If it was so ordianry he would have made it.

Insanity. Pure insanity. And typical "we someone find a way to win every post season game" from the Cardinals. I don't get how they do it.

Also, shocked by the implosion from Atlanta's defense.

Was that Jim Thome I saw batting earlier? I didn't know he was still alive.

As a Cardinals fan, even i will admit that the infield fly ruling was bullshit. However, the braves certainly didn't help themselves with those 3 errors.

See, I don't care if it "cost" them the game or not. That's just a bad call, anyway you slice it. Whether its game 1 of the season or the playoffs. I can live with a blown ball/strike call, a bang-bang base running call, but that was just inexcusable.

Congrats to the O's, but my goodness the Rangers just choked, threw up and choked again in the last few weeks. Wow.

They sure didn't help themselves with the errors. That has nothing to do with the blown call. Cardinals chanting "infield fly rule" in club house tells you everything you need to know.

I don't think it was a bad call. It appeared that the outfielder called off the infielder who was in clear control of the play. He stopped and the play looked worse than it really was. IT DOES NOT MATTER THAT THE BALL WAS OUTSIDE OF THE INFIELD....

An INFIELD FLY is a fair fly ball (not including a line drive nor an attempted bunt) which can be caught by an infielder with ordinary effort, when first and second, or first, second and third bases are occupied, before two are out. The pitcher, catcher and any outfielder who stations himself in the infield on the play shall be considered infielders for the purpose of this rule.
When it seems apparent that a batted ball will be an Infield Fly, the umpire shall immediately declare "Infield Fly'' for the benefit of the runners. If the ball is near the baselines, the umpire shall declare "Infield Fly, if Fair.''
The ball is alive and runners may advance at the risk of the ball being caught, or retouch and advance after the ball is touched, the same as on any fly ball. If the hit becomes a foul ball, it is treated the same as any foul.
If a declared Infield Fly is allowed to fall untouched to the ground, and bounces foul before passing first or third base, it is a foul ball. If a declared Infield Fly falls untouched to the ground outside the baseline, and bounces fair before passing first or third base, it is an Infield Fly.
Rule 2.00 (Infield Fly) Comment: On the infield fly rule the umpire is to rule whether the ball could ordinarily have been handled by an infielder - not by some arbitrary limitation such as the grass, or the base lines. The umpire must rule also that a ball is an infield fly, even if handled by an outfielder, if, in the umpire's judgment, the ball could have been as easily handled by an infielder. The infield fly is in no sense to be considered an appeal play. The umpire's judgment must govern, and the decision should be made immediately.
When an infield fly rule is called, runners may advance at their own risk. If on an infield fly rule, the infielder intentionally drops a fair ball, the ball remains in play despite the provisions of Rule 6.05(l). The infield fly rule takes precedence.

I'll tell you what fellas! If you want to win a World Series, cut down the errors!! Who cares about that call!? Don't have Chipper boot an easy DP ball and we aren't talking about it. Just like last year, it doesn't matter whether you agree with it, but the CARDINALS move on. There are certain things in September.....Death, taxes, and the St. Louis Cardinals being contenders in the MLB playoffs. Sorry guys, but it sucks to suck!
