There is no reluctance on my part to believe anything. I don't have a preference for the bombers motives, unlike a lot of people here. I'm just saying, these guys don't fit the profile of what we think of as traditional islamic terrorists. I think it is pretty clear they are Muslims and they are terrorists. It just seems like they're lone wolves and not connected to a network based on the way they've operated.

I agree. It's too early to rule anything out, but based on what's come out to this point my hunch is that these kids, especially the older brother, who may have influcenced the younger brother, are disaffected Muslims who on their own initiative got way into the extremist aspects of their religion, kind of like the Fort Hood shooter.

Ahhhh....So I guess it was the older one.

The older one, Tamerlan Tsarnaev, was the devout Muslim and the one who said "I don’t have a single American friend, I don’t understand them." They all fled Chechnya in the 90's, stopped in Kazakhstan for a few years and then came to the U.S. as refugees.

I'm thinking that the older one Tamerlan probably manipulated the younger one and masterminded the whole ordeal.

The fact that, this day and age, that you just dismiss this as rubbish shows your naivety.

You obviously are dismissing how evil humans can be.

No I'm not. I fully recognize how evil humans can be. But have you ever met a nine year old? How many adults that you know hold the same beliefs and world views as they did when they were nine? It'll come out. I'll bet you anything you want that this was not a 10 year sleeper cell. The idea is aggressively stupid, honestly.

Yeah, maybe ten year olds that live in that part of the world do hate Americans, but the idea that a kid came here as a nine year with a mission that he sat on for ten years then activated it about as absurd an idea as I've ever heard. I think pretty clearly something happened to these guys to turn them at some point, and it probably happened somewhat recently (last year or two). The idea that a nine year old came here with this in mind a decade later shows virtually no understanding of human nature and the human condition.

I think the idea maybe absurd to an American that grew up with an entirely different mindset. We (Americans) can not put ourselves in there place and know the lives and environment they grew up in. Just as we can not pass judgment on them until all the facts are released we can not dismiss anything either.

Are you insinuating that I did this, Pat?

Nope. Just saying that the early reports from certain news outlets were politically motivated. Hell, there was a article written by a guy that said, and I quote, "I hope it's a white guy (american)"

Just shameful

Are you insinuating that I did this, Pat? Because if you are I'm going to pull every one of my posts in this thread, then yours and we'll see who is pushing an agenda here and every where else.

No. He's just posting pure speculation until someone post something that contradicts a political belief of his THEN he demands proof.

I'm just saying it's a possiblity. You're the one dismissing the entire thing.

Nine year olds are very impressionable. It's not out of the relm of possiblity. Especially from that region

Isn't EVERYTHING posted here speculation when it comes to "why"??

If not, I'm glad I'm in the company of so many insiders that know "human condition" better than I do and can dismiss theories because they just know.

Terrorism is terrorism.

Different how? You think there would be any less anger? Or any less pain or sadness?

CNN reporting that older brother was a US citizen and younger brother has green card.

I just heard neither were citizens...but both had green cards (which allows you to come an go).

And I'm interested to see if and where they traveled...

Because they weren't funded or backed by any groups. We've discussed this.

Where is this "white crazy guy terrorist group"? And who funds and harbors them?

It think that's the difference. Most of those guys were in fact, loners. Bat sh*t crazy and evil...but loners.

Come on, Timothy mcveigh did not have instigate a war in the US, while muslims extremists are seen as messengers of their countries

Yes but your the guy who tells everyone "its a radical Islamic organization no doubt! Just say it! They're not white! Do it! Everyone say it's a radical Islamic organization! I bet they were brought over here and raised as super soldiers from nine! I bet they hate us and have been sitting here for years waiting for their moment to strike! Everything lines up! I'm telling you they've been planning this for years!"

Then someone says
"I think the younger one was actually pretty sociable"

You: "PROOF?!?!?! Where's your PROOF!? I need proof before I believe such a thing that may debunk my theory that is 100x more needlessly complicated than the current facts demonstrate!"

I'm not saying that you can't be right. But if everything in here is pure speculation, then stop asking for proof as soon as someone posts "speculation" that doesn't line up with your version.

Nobody knows for sure, but based on the information currently known, it seems a 100:1 shot that these guys were funded by or part of a bigger operation. They seem like classic lone wolf actors.

This, for Gawd's sake. Why so much discussion about international organized terrorism? These guys came to the U.S. as children and made crude but destructive bombs using readily available materials that anyone with Internet access can learn how to make. As I posted above, it's too early to rule anything out, but these kids seem like homegrown, independently wacked out Islamic terrorists, like the Fort Hood shooter. It's POSSIBLE that they were acting with support from international terrorists, but based on what we know that doesn't seem probable enough to warrant the amount of ink it's getting in this thread.

Hmmmm...Good point.

Maybe I'm asking in the wrong way...I'm a little overbearing at times, I'll admit.

I don't understand how the Father can think they are being framed. They are shooting and throwing grenades out of cars and running each other over. How can they possibly be framed?

Watching all of this unfold is crazy to me. Now they're about to have a controlled explosion at their apartment.

Being linked to a group doesn't mean that you were funded by one....Maybe they got involved with people on the web that convinced them to do this? Or maybe they hooked up with other like minded crazies (the reason they're bringing in others, like those in the black car) that all came together, led by some radical, and did this?

Maybe the older one had some "training" while before he came here?

And like CBS is saiing now...These guys had training. Coming over here, being off the grid, organizing the plan....So I'm pretty sure that warrants "the amount of ink" it's getting.

And yes, anytime you have radical islamics, you must look into connections with larger groups
