I should add to this a thought I just had: it might not be obvious to people from outside of the area, but MIT is technically not in Boston. It is in Cambridge, which is across the Charles River from Boston and has its own local government and police force. So the presence of Boston PD in Watertown (yet another municipality with their own police force) in the early stages of this situation should have been a clue as to what was going on. Even assuming police chased these guys from the carjacking, it would have only been Cambridge PD if it were a normal situation. That Boston PD was up there immediately removes any doubt for me that this is what we thought it might be.

And there is a girl on Twitter that (supposedly) knew the identity of one of the bombers/suspects hours ago based on the pics the FBI released, matched pics of a kid that disappeared a month ago. Trying to find the post again.

I saw the girl ID-ing the photo as Sunil, the missing Brown student, this afternoon. Said she went to high school with him. It was posted by the barstool guy on his twitter, but it has been taken down from what I've seen.

As a journalism student, I can't help but think that in 15 years, professors will be asking students, "where were you the night social media officially passed cable TV news?"

There is info on Redit and Twitter, coming from police scanners and witnesses, that reporters are putting out hours before LIVE news.

The hole in his argument on the second tweet is that the FBI was looking for that guy as soon as he disappeared. The FBI doesn't jump in that quick on a standard missing-person do they? There was also an article I saw linking two men to suspicious packages/explosives in March, but they were never caught.
