Seemed to have narrowed it down to Dexter & School. (where they want to encounter the suspect, I assume)

Things are slowing down on the scanner a lot, turning away workers who would be inside perimeter

Reddit said 2nd suspect is dead but I haven't heard any confirmation from any other source

Black Hat is dead, White Hat is still holed up somewhere. They're briefing the squad on how they will strike once sunrise comes

Possible Suspect
Last Updated by Sam 12 minutes ago
Dark hoodied male broke into a red sedan and drove off.

Again, this is far from the area police are concentrating on (other side of the river). Wouldn't it suck to be a car thief and not watch the news? Grand Theft Auto, apprehended by federal agents, that would certainly warrant a hearty lol.

When they carjacked the first car they had a "hostage" for 30 mins and then let him go, seems fishy to me

As a journalism student, I can't help but think that in 15 years, professors will be asking students, "where were you the night social media officially passed cable TV news?"

There is info on Redit and Twitter, coming from police scanners and witnesses, that reporters are putting out hours before LIVE news.

So as a journalism student in an endangered occupation soon to be extirpated have you chosen your new major yet or will you be camping out in a park in a couple of years protesting your student loans and grim job prospects?

I hate to break this industry secret but the media have used police scanners for 70 or 80 years. Actually a scanner wasn't required as back then had the police bands as a tuneable feature on something called r-a-d-i-o.

To the credit of MSNBC, Fox, CNN, and the ABC affliate I watched tonight they ALL noted that they had information such as names but unlike the irresponsible bloggers and tweeters they ALL refrained from "confirming" information that law enforcement had not confirmed. They all connected the dots/similarities but noted they would await positive I.D. from law enforcement.

The on site media reported that they were told by law enforcement to turn off cell phones to minimize an accidental discharge of a possilbe bomb and they complied with that directive. The "eye witness" social media crowd kept those cell towers hopping getting their 15 minutes of fame without regard for anyone's safety.

would not surprize me if all these events turn out to be a total cluster**** and some innocent kid is being hunted right now...it just seems too dirty to me and so public.

Why does that seem fishy?

You don't commit acts of mass violence without a motive. Motive does not mean a complete lack of morality; altered as it may be. We have no idea how these murderers view the world. Something fishy implies you know something none of us possibly could (since we're not them).

It's definitely a stretch but why haven't we heard about the hostage. For all we know either of the suspects could be 1/2 way to California by now.

And if they did have a hostage, how did they just get rid of him. They were in a car chase

Innocent kids don't have bombs

Seems like a grasp of the obvious that should be readily apparent to everyone, doesn't it?

I doubt that slain MIT cop's family or the wounded cop's family or the families of all those local, state, and federal cops and guardsmen on scene in harm's way think this is pursuit of the innocent.

We're staying up late following the drama. None of us have to dread the prospect of a police chaplain showing up at our door tonight bringing bad news. Lots of other families have had this brought to their homes tonight complete with gunfire and explosions within earshot of their sleeping children.

I read on one of the feeds that the hostage escaped while they tried to rob a gas station after the initial carjacking. For cash? Probably not, but some gas to make a run for it? Hard to tell since the focus isn't on those early events since it's an ongoing law enforcement action.

Other possibility: they viewed the hostage as an innocent in their morality. Since we know nothing about the terrorists or the hostage, it's pure speculation.

they dropped him off at a gas station of course! And when you have just committed an atrocity of course what you do is rob a 7-11 on MIT campus at 2am three days later...flip that laying low crap!

If you and your partner in crime's pictures were going to be front page news the next morning would you make a run out of town or wait for your landlord to call the police? It's extremely logical.
