I know I joke a lot but honestly I wouldn’t worry one fuck about any of this until we get through northwestern unbeaten... all this chatter about where we are ranked won’t matter one fcukle until then if we have any high bowl aspirations.

To be honest it kind of does matter. If we don't pass them this week and they both get rolling we're stuck behind them until they lose. The further we get into the season the more locked in the top few teams become in everyone's minds. those 2-3 spots could be the difference between being a team that's a lock to make the playoffs to a team that's on the bubble or that needs help.

Yeah MTA is probably done for the year.

I think Hainsey, Karim, and Mack are all OK from their bumps and bruises.

Is that your opinion on MTA or did you hear/read something? Really hope he's not season ending hurt.

It's a rumor, I wouldn't take it to the bank. I'm sure we'll get the official diagnosis within 48 hours.

Let's hope for the best then. Dude seems primed for a breakout year with the success he found at times last year.

I had so much fun. The D is for real.

Michigan's d is incredible, but we did the job.

I hate that it's an absolute thing that BK actively tries to lose games.

That's my synopsis.

Mixed feedback from ESPN....

Woke up at 5:30am to see Jesse on College Football Final saying that ND was in his 4 team playoff after week one along with Bama, UGA, and Clemson....

Then I read this from an ESPN Buy/Sell/Hold piece....

HOLD: Notre Dame's playoff hopes

The Irish beat Michigan, but there's a long way to go before we start talking playoff. Brandon Wimbush got off to a terrific start, completing 8 of 11 passes for 138 yards and a touchdown (to go with 47 rushing yards) on his first four drives. Clearly, he turned the page on last year's inconsistency, right? Well, the rest of the game didn't go so well. Wimbush finished 4-of-11 for 32 yards and had a pick, and Notre Dame's final seven drives amounted to a field goal, five punts and a turnover. That's not to say this wasn't a big positive for Notre Dame overall, but Michigan's inept offense isn't new, and the Irish still have dates with Stanford, Virginia Tech, Northwestern, Florida State and USC that will require more from Wimbush than one good quarter. Call us cautiously optimistic.

They are right about BW's/O regression after the first 4 drives, but I wonder how much of that is play calling....

The D-line rotation truly kept them fresh and boy did they play with a different energy.

BW’s passing in the first quarter was amazing. I think if he could have hit 2 or 3 of the screen passes he might helped himself with the pass rush some.

For his first time Lea did a very good job.

The officials were very strange last night with their admin time outs.

Yoon was much better at kick offs.

I know some of it was adjustments to the offense game plan by their defense but I wish our offense would have stayed more aggressive. It’s sucks to keep having to rely on your defense to put out the win.

We have more starts on special teams and they still aren’t good.

Then energy from the team was at a high level.

1-0 start i’ll Take it. Michigan 0-1 i’ll Take it.

The offensive performance last night was what a majority of us expected right? I know I was expecting a defensive battle and an end result of around 17-13. The score was a little higher than that but not by much.

So, if people were expecting a defensive battle, why are we so pessimistic about the offense already? If you ask me, they looked a lot better last night than they did a year ago against Georgia. They need to improve, but I certainly wasn't expecting 500 yards of total offense and 42 points. If the offense is more of the same through the Stanford game, then I'll be concerned.

- I love the way Wimbush runs the ball, he can be the best RB on the roster. On the other hand, i do not like him as a passer. Highly inaccurate, unnnecessary and risky throws and miss a lot of short, quick passes. I have a mini heart attack every time he throws the ball, with him it is easy to expect either a TD or a Pick six.

- Not impressed with any RB. Jones runs hard but he is not a threat with the ball in his hands. Dexter is the best RB easily.

- Our WR corp is a problem to Defensive coordinators. They can create mismatches to every defense. Boykin, Claypool, Mack are taller than any CB in the country. Even Finke won a badass jumpball for the TD. This is a very underrated group, even tho no one is elite.

- Hainsey had a rough game dealing with Winovich, i think Eichenberg managed his first start very well, he looked composed against Gary.

- Khalid Kareem may be the best DL since Tuitt, he is not as good as him but he is very good.

- Coney is very solid, he makes no mistakes and get the job done on every play, very reliable player. Best LB since Te'o. Tranquill was good, not great. Bilal is a bit frustrating, he put himself in place to make some good plays but can't finish the job.

- I think Gilman deserved the game ball, his first game as an Irish and he commanded the defense and his presence bring a lot of energy, swag and aggressiveness. His style of play reminded me to Jamoris Slaughter, but he is better than Jamoris. Very impressed with him.

- Special teams were awful.

I think you’ve got some good points here other than the bolded. There was this guy named Jaylon who might disagree with that statement

I had a Michigan fan congratulate me last night on the bus leaving Magic Kingdom. I walked around wearing my ND hat and most UM fans were not trying to make eye contact with me. I look forward to watching the game when I get home, go Irish!

It's hard to get a fair assessment of the offense because Michigan's D is pretty elite, especially their DL.

Wimbush looked decent in the pocket avoiding some contact. Whenever he was sacked he pretty much had no shot to avoid it. He's got a cannon but some of this throws were bad. I'm kinda surprised he only threw one pick. I think very few of this throws were on the money. He got bailed out by Finke.

RBs looked bad. Not sure how much of that is Michigan's D and how much is just lack of experience or lack of talent. I think they'll get better as the season goes along. Should rack up some major yardage next week.

STs was pretty bad. OOB kickoff, bad punt, giving up a kick return TD, a late hit by the kicker.

D was great. No complaints there. It's nice to finally see our guys getting pressure on the opposing QB.

We did catch a couple of lucky breaks. Botched FG and Patterson fumbling. I know he was pressured but it looked like he just dropped the ball trying to tuck it.

All in all it was a great win. I'm happy.

One positive I did hear last night was the loudest the stadium has been in 5 years

If this is the case then NBC should be ashamed. It sounded like every other NBC broadcasts I've watched in the past five years. Absolutely terrible production, almost as bad as the color commentary.

I wish NBC was batter at projecting this over the broadcast. I'm sitting at home and was getting mad at the lack of noise in the stadium. Other networks broadcasts of games makes the crowd sound so much louder, I'm glad to know that it actually was loud.

The Michigan D appears to have the same characteristics as a Tenuda or Van Gorder D. Perhaps the scheme is a little better, which only makes that kind of hell all the worse.

Am I the only one that wasn't disappointed with our o line at all? Maybe it was just because I was expecting the worst, but they performed better than anticipated. You're never going to stop a line as strong as Michigan's but I felt that our tackles in particular did a solid job funneling the rush outside, giving Wimbush a chance to climb up in the pocket.

This unit just lost 2 of the best lineman in the country. It's going to take some time for them to gel, and that was the best defense they will face all season.

I'm very bullish on our line going forward.

Also Alohi Gilman is a revelation. When is the last time we have safety play that good??

I'm with you on the line. Unless we bump into Clemson that's as good as it gets. I have no problem sending ends around the outside with BW stepping up in a clean pocket.

I think we can go heavy with our TEs and flat mash some fools going forward.

Really excited to see the VT - FSU game, early indications about our schedule are mostly positive.

LET'S GO!

I’m extremely disappointed not a single member has mentioned how well Daelin Hayes played last night. IMO he was the best DE on ND last night. That’s the Hayes I envisioned cling out of high school.

All 4 DE’s played good for ND last night.

Yeah he was consistently collapsing the pocket and overpowering his olineman.

The tron frequently flashed:

“MICHIGAN WANTS YOU TO BE QUIET.”

Great strategy to get the crowd going.

I wouldn’t say it was loud from start to finish, but at its peak, it was definitely the loudest it’s been in years.

Tbh, that kick off return kept Michigan in the game and also ND’s conservative play calling after a sizeable lead.

Our offense managed the second half, whereas we came out ready to kill them to start the game.

Yes, Michigan has a tough defense, but they were inferior as a team.

The score doesn’t reflect it, but we did what we could to keep them in the game and still beat them.

On to the next!
