I hope it's a strong base with stronger incentives.

"You get a top 3 of our board signed, $20K bonus per position". This is how winners win.

Wow tf were we paying him $150k? No better way to get a raise then threatening to go to your biggest recruiting rival. Glad he got paid.
I always find it fascinating how the pay structure of college football staffs shakes out.

In college, you can be a mediocre coach with great talent and win big. But it's harder to win big as a great coach with mediocre talent.

I would rather pay top dollar for the best recruiting coordinator and average TE coach than best TE coach and average recruiting coordinator. Yet the average TE coach makes more than the best recruiting coordinator. Confounding.

I’m sure it’s evolving as recruiting (and re-recruiting the roster) becomes ever more important and higher stakes.
It was not long ago that the recruiting coordinator WAS an average assistant coach. Someone said Elston still holds that title at Michigan?

well this guy had a hand in helping make the bears a horrible NFL franchise it seems.
He really didn't. They were horrible before he got there.

The Bears were tanking in 2022 and did so pretty successfully to get the number one pick, with an assist from Lovie Smith the last week of the season. 2023, they ended 7-10 from 3-14 the year before.

It would appear that he had a hand in helping Michigan get their roster to where it was the last two years. What's really interesting is they would bring someone back that had anything to do with that program during that time with all things being considered, but now that Harbaugh is gone my guess is all of that just goes away and nobody does anything about it.

I understand the appeal of tripling your salary but c’mon man. The cost of living will be way higher, you’re choosing to work for Lincoln Riley, and you’re leaving your supposed best friend to go help his direct rival football program. One year after already leveraging a huge raise.

What the hell Chad.
