wow. thats a very scary situation for michigan. if kelly doesnt throw downfield atleast 10 times this weekend i will blow my top. if we can keep our offense on the field for a long time then we should be gold. keep the ball out of robinsons hands and take advantage of a worn out secondary.

and for goodness sake if a db comes in that isnt in the starting four THROW AT HIM. i would love to see a lb (or better yet an offensive skill player) try to guard our receiver corps.

I just REALLY hope it doesn't rain. Having to throw a wet ball is the only thing I can see stopping our passing game.

This is unreal. Those guys should be dead tired by the fourth quarter, so there should be plenty of opportunity for the deep ball against a tired, worn down secondary. I think he should keep to his philosophy for the most part, but he definitely needs to take more shots this week. Crist needs to learn that it is, sometimes, okay, to throw it up and let them go make a play. You don't have to win the Heisman, Dayne! Let Rudy and Floyd help you!

I'm actually hoping it does rain so Robinson isn't as mobile. Passing against this secondary really shouldn't be a problem with Floyd, Rudoloph, TJ, and Riddick at wideout vs. 4 total DBs

60% chance of tstorms Saturday, per weather.com. Can't see the hourly breakdown, so unclear if it all settles down before the game or if it's gonna be 2008 all over again.

They are also starting Jordan Kovacs. Come on now. He's a super nice kid and overall a terrific guy. I went to school in the same city as he did and coached football in the league he played in. He's a walk-on. He's a fine athlete, but not a Big Ten caliber defensive back.

So I'm simply saying they don't have 4 defensive backs, they have 3.25 defensive backs.

lets hope Kelly puts 4-5 wide for a majority of the game, that would increase chances of big downfield plays, then also run sweeps and stretch plays, test.them in every way

You know guys I hope its a perfect day and nobody has any excuses and the best team is clearly evident. Go Irish!!!!! I'm still pissed from the game last year and the stench in the air from officials.

This could be even worse for them than we know, if we've got our information straight. Rodriguez' West Virginia-style defense is more of a 3-3-5 than a 3-4-4. If he's still playing that, and our info is right, he's already short one man.

How in the hell can you play a 3-3-5 when you don't have 5 db's?

I don't see him on the depth chart, but Safety Carvin Johnson is doubtful for the game on Saturday. Roy Roundtree is also doubtful.

Catholicism must be the correct religion, there is no other reason for God smiting the Michigan secondary like he has.

Wow, this game should be a route.

5 wide all day. Let a LB try and cover Theo or TJ or Duval or even Robby! Holy crap!!!

Good luck to the secondary and as always! GO IRISH!!!

I don't know what to make of this.

Purdue had a ridiculously inexperienced and thin defensive backfield, but ND managed just 200 yards in the air. Some of that is due to an effective running game. I hope to see all our WRs playing major minutes. Should be great!

Our playcalling was 60:40, run:pass and BK has stated that the strength of this team is the o-line and rb positions. BK's history is to play to his team's strength's and I think that all season long this team will be balanced in that way.

WITH THAT BEING SAID, you could see the timing was off and that BK was letting DC get his feet wet. I expect this season that DC will be putting up big numbers sooner, rather than later.

College Player Database - Depth Chart

Another Safety transferred today.

TheWolverine.com - Vladimir Emilien granted release, will transfer

That leaves 4 DBs TOTAL. Look for us to wear that secondary down.

NOT TRUE!

They have lost depth at DB but they have more people than that chart shows. A few weeks ago we discussed UM's DB losses ( perhpas in the GameDay Thread) and I added the names of underclassmen that Phil Steele lists in his UM review. Somebody at Rivals has deleted the losses of their original two deep while not adding their replacements, like Freshman Cullen Christian. Steele lists Christian as the #17 CB nationally.

The UM Roster at their website lists 8 CBs and 16 Ss on the team including scholarship players and walkons. Deducting Emilien, who was granted a transfer request on Monday, UM has 24 DBs on the roster. They are short experienced bodies but NOT short bodies.

Rodriquez is challenging/driving off (take your pick) the Forciers/Emiliens who don't submit (or fit) to HIS vision and he's sending an Alamo message to the rest of his team with the Walkon Tryouts held the day before the ND Game. "We Few ..."

ND fans are posting like crazy that Armando Allen is feeling the pressure from Wood. Think about being a UM DB and the Coach calls for tryouts, for walkons. It's a motivational tool.

Here's the list of DBs from UM's Roster at the official UM website:

Knowing Rodriguez' penchant for loading up on smallish speedsters during recruiting, BGIF's list makes a lot more sense to me than the earlier vision being projected on this thread. Still, if NOTABLE DBs are falling by the wayside, Michigan's secondary will be severely weakened anyway. There were reasons no doubt why some guys are starters and others deep on the bench. So, it all still sounds hopeful to me.

These kids are crazy. Why would transfer now? The kid probably would be playing a ton this season. I don't get it??
