Weren’t we using a silent count all game? I remember reading that last week.
No doubt miami WR made an incredible catch. But to me it was the mentality of the team as a whole that disappointed me with Freeman and all the coaches. We were NOT the violent physical team everyone preached about other than we were more chippy after plays.Or maybe the Miami wr doesn't make an unbelievable catch and Shuler is the man. Shuler judged it correctly as an overthrow pick, watts had a bunch of these. WR made a throw your arm out and hope you get enough of the ball, and he did.
I'm just saying, we can probably do this on a lot of plays
Watch the TD pass to Faison. We were using the "clap". No 3 and No 0 for Miami are basically by our guys before we even react.Weren’t we using a silent count all game? I remember reading that last week
first defensive possession of the game the DL was confused! They were much more passive / hesitant IMO than I remember our defense being in the back half of 24, I’m sure a lot of that is adjusting to Ash. There were plenty of plays where they just looked confused leading up to the snap which was not surprising in retrospect.
Almost worth always scheduling a FCS / bad G5 team in Week 0 just to iron out shit.
Always has been legal. A couple things not legal are in-person scouting and visually recording signals (apart from game film and tv broadcasts.)Well now that stealing signals and play calls is now for all intents and purposes, legal, Im not surprised if they did know a thing or two ahead of time.
This is a very measured response void of any emotion or hyperbole whatsoever. That last minute for us was one of the worst executed last minute in memory. Total collapse they rushed 4 and felt like 7. The play calling (no rolling a pocket or anything) was pathetic. Weakest coaching link on this team is an over the hill one season wonder thanks to Jayden Daniel’s miracle season.
That’s my point. It’s not your definition of targeting, it’s the officials on the field & in the booth. If he goes for the big hit, he risks it being interpreted as targeting. It’s as subjective as a home plate ump calling balls & strikes.Where did I say for him to go "targeting?"
SU is one team I am confident that the front seven can record some sacks.Surprising Cuse was that close considering they lost by 19
Don't lead with your head and play the ball. They're coached to do this. The ref's interpretation shouldn't cross anyone's mind on a play like that. That’s my point. Correct. They’re coached to do a lot of things but they don’t always perform (see OL). I never said he should play scared. In Fact, I said I don’t know what his thought process was but it could be possible that’s in the back of his mind on plays like that.Don't lead with your head and play the ball. I feel for Shuler, but you can't rationalize by saying he should play scared to avoid a penalty.
I think people are really overthinking the Shuler play. If it looked like an accurate/on time pass he would've come up and hit the guy. It looked like an overthrow and he was playing the ball. He misread the ball's trajectory by ~2 inches and an interception at minimum saves you 3 points. Everything is easy slowed down and with hindsight.
I think he thought it was a sure interception, but I'd like to see him try and high point that ball, not just wait for it to fall to him. If he does, at minimum it's a PBU. Ball hawking 101, right? There was a play to be made and he didn't make it. It's one play.I think people are really overthinking the Shuler play. Dj Brown tried to highpoint an interception onceI think he thought it was a sure interception, but I'd like to see him try and high point that ball, not just wait for it to fall to him. Still a helluva ball player and I'm sure he'll make plenty of plays for us again in 2025. It was sick catch by the wideout, no doubt.
It was behind the LOS, and no excuse with Shuler it was only a great catch because he didn't decide one of two things 1.) attack the ball like Ed Reed 2.) Destroy the WR and remove man from ball like Bob Sanders/Steve AtwaterI think it was behind the LOS. Didn't we benefit on a pick play that the flag was picked up b/c behind LOS?
I'm not so negative on Shuler's missed pick - WRs hand must have felt like it came from the depths of hell to ruin his day and reel that in. Just have to tip your hat sometimes to someone making what will probably be the best catch of their lifetime.
Found an all-22 copy of the Miami td. For anyone interested, it's 13:00 min in. Shuler actually lines up about 5 yards from where Daniels ultimately catches it. It appears that Shuler thought he had a gift wrapped int and there was no way Daniels gets to it... then, heartbreak. Actually feel worse for Shuler after watching it as it's a play he (along with Watts) routinely made last year.
This.. plus Texas vs OSU did like 16m.Wait, I thought college football was in shambles and the game was going to hell.
They're paying the help!! THEY'RE PAYING THE HELP!!
Also funny to hear Saban say CJ Carr is good and we need to let him throw it down the field. I guess he was in agreement with most of us who were screaming at our TVs to stop screens and to give Love the ball.Hilarious to watch Gameday talk about Clemson, Texas, Alabama and ND losses and have them pretty unanimously agree ND is the least to worry about. Guess they don’t peruse IE
Ya, but what does Saban know 🙄Also funny to hear Saban say CJ Carr is good and we need to let him throw it down the field. I guess he was in agreement with most of us who were screaming at our TVs to stop screens and to give Love the ball.
This has to be the national consensus, by the way. ND lost on a field goal with a minute left playing a top 10 team on the road. None of these other teams can say that.Hilarious to watch Gameday talk about Clemson, Texas, Alabama and ND losses and have them pretty unanimously agree ND is the least to worry about. If properly coached we are. This loss was on conservative coaching on both sides of the ball. Also funny to hear Saban say CJ Carr is good and we need to let him throw it down the field. I think we are a better team than Miami. CJ looked easily as good or better in his first ever start than Miami’s 16th year QB.
Well CJ had a much tougher challenge that night but Beck played almost perfect. He was better that night as evidenced by the bonehead int. Also funny to hear Saban say CJ Carr is good and we need to let him throw it down the field.
