Bain was a lot better than I expected. Was definitely hurt last season

As an Eagles fan, he’s literally the same size as our stud DT last year Milton Williams, and probably moved better.

Mesidor is just a big end, nothing special about him.

Two ways past the Prep level is noooo joke, tried it in spot duty at CB as a WR. I commend Hunter for going out there for 100+ plays a game, that's some pristine conditioning.
There was no loading or jogging around when you’re snapping the ball on all series of plays and then getting smashed. Never got tired playing tennis matches because three sets were max. Not a long rally guy either. Not many lineman playing varsity tennis in SoCal.

Dude was a menace at the Prep level, believe he holds the National sack record. I went to a couple of their games his JR year and he was racking up 5 and 6 sack games, believe he finished that season with 30 sacks!! As a SR he followed it up with 29!

At this point it's become a habit in all the big games and it's alarming. How hard is it to give an AA RB carries? 20 carries in the Playoffs and 4 carries in the Championship game! Never seen a situation in Football where the biggest obstacle for an AA RB is his own staff. Running more designed runs for Carr than Love is unfathomable.
And price looked every part of Loves equal last night. Chew a guy out for fumbling but let him get back on the horse. He was running hard and differently from a less successful Love. Denbrok sucked.

Love and price are good enough to overcome mediocre line play and actually make them look better. Both make yards out of nothing. Price can bounce it outside like he did and get you 30. In order for that to happen you have to give him the ball again!
This is my main hope going forward -- if you trust Carr to throw it, then just spread out the defense + fire off the ball and these guys are good enough to find some creases.

I would like to see Love and Williams more involved in the passing game. We didn’t have any plays where the backs dropped to get a wide open pass. Also no Jet Sweeps or 2 back sets.

It doesn’t get any easier for the O line in two weeks. Gonna need to move the pocket against TAMU to give Carr some time to throw downfield.

Last thought on the game...I mentioned last week that in '17, Miami played like they knew of the rivalry between these two teams and Notre Dame did not. I feel like last night... again, Miami played like it was a rivalry and Notre Dame didn't. The Canes played with the attitude of a team that felt disrespected by a hated rival. Notre Dame played like they were going up against a faceless top 25 team on the road.

We always refer to them as convicts and thugs... I'd hate us, too.

Yeah, I mean, one of their players is currently charged with vehicular homicide. It looks like the NIL fund had enough left over for bail money, though.

We were the higher ranked team w/ more recent success as a program on the road both times

That’s a recipe for the “underdog” mentality regardless of rivalry

Random thought - It was painful watching Eli run on his wide open catch. He’s really lost all of his athleticism. The Eli in HS who was a fringe 5 star scores there.
On one hand it was painful that Eli had the longest catch of the game when it could've been Fields, Greahouse, Faison, Love, Price, or Gilbert.

On the other hand it was the catch that ND needed.

I thought Denbrock might spread things out in the second half to open up the run game

Agreed, another case of the staff getting in the RBs rooms way.

We move on

Great message and motivative message by Freeman.

We lost by 3, we didn't lose by 33. For those in flip out mode go outside.

Each week let's finish 1-0.

Freeman nailed it on this that Notre Dame beat Notre Dame.

Go Irish!

I don't think they had an underdog mentality in either game. It definitely has more to do with the Rivalry. You shared a post from Ahmad Moten... he didn't quote "underdogs"

Anyone think Lambert is a better option at LT?
Knapp is a bit of an Anthony Volpe to me. The staff love him and nobody can work out why.

So we can rule you out as being a poster at NDN.
Or. after a loss, anywhere else. But they are the worst. Pissy when we win, pissy when we lose

Couple of knee tears will do that to you.

The "Knapp sucks, why can't the staff see it?" stuff is a bit overdone. He was named to 4 different freshman all American teams, and has played exactly one game since. Let's not pretend like the staff has a blind spot and there's some sort of consensus that the rest the sport thinks he's trash.

I am absolutely no expert but I thought he was ordinary last year. Maybe Leonard made him look okay. Those freshman all American team selectors would not have looked to deeply into things. Just the fact he was NDs starting LT would have been impressive to them. He may well be better than Lambert and Black but that thought depresses me.
