MCG winning at the halfway point but it clearly looks like your typical money fight... running, dancing, opponent getting tired...

Ended how I expected.
Mcgregor would guess out after going for the early knock out and Mayweather would take advantage.

Say what you want about hist style, but Mayweather is probably the smartest boxer since Ali.

Acamp I'd give Mayweather 45 seconds in the octagon it's a much larger space. Takes longer to meet in the center.

Lol typical Mcgregor fan response. Did you seriously say Mayweather ran??? He was legit on the aggressive, pushing Mcgregor all fight.

Honestly all respect to Mcgregor he did better than I expected. Entertaining spectacle and that's what we all payed for.

Haha haha

Wasn't planning on watching the fight, by going on Twitter for updates found some guy periscoping it thru his Twitter stream. Saw the whole thing minus the guy moving his phone to get to his charger.

MCG lost because he went against a boxer, might have won versus a fighter.

Maybe a backhand complement?? Saying Mayweather is a warrior? That's what Mexican fighters are known for: their heart and tenacity. Mcgregor also threw in that subtle comment of Mayweather not being fast or strong.

Pretty much... maywaether is so frustrating with his tactics, always has been... him having to resort to them tonight against a dude in his first ever boxing match is even more so... how many times did this dude turn his back so McG could no longer hurt him?

No philly, not a McG fan, just calling it straight.

It was better entertainment than I thought it would be tho, I'll give tonight that much.

No, he was commenting on Mayweather coming forward and stalking him, which is considered the Mexican style.

Usually Mayweather stays out of range and picks his opponents apart. This fight, Mayweather threw 3-4-5 punch combos which is rare in the latter half of his career.

But anyways, McGregor really does have poor technique. He doesn't turn his punches down and swings very wide which doesn't generate much power. He needs to sit down on his punches and generate power with his legs, hips and torso, but then again easier said than done when he doesn't really train for boxing.

Either way, he made a boatload of cash so he is probably very happy right now. Purse + PPV + endorsements + future earnings. He has instant name recognition from this fight and massive leverage against UFC. All month people were talking about this fight. He and his team will be expecting major paydays from now on because he is the biggest star in combat sports now. Business wise, McGregor wins.

Would've been reallllllly interesting to see what McGregor could've done with more experience going deep in a boxing match. Pretty shocked how well he fought, but he just expended too much energy in the first three rounds.

UFC he finishes most fights early, and even title bouts aren't scheduled past five 5-minute rounds. Notice he was really gassed starting after the 8th (24 minutes of fighting)...

Anyways, good fight and worth my time.

Is there any sports parallel to what McGregor did last night? I got nothing, other than maybe someone like Patrick Kane deciding to golf, and making the cut for the Masters in less than a year.
