The biggest reason I think this might not be true is that Freeman is quoted as saying that he respects Balis "as a coach and a man". If it's really something like the NW scandal, then you don't make any comment.i would guess ND conducted an internal review in the wake of the Northwestern scandal and found some things they didnt like
i just saw the freeman quote so yeah it sounds like its more like a genuine personal reason. Without that, you'd definitely be thinking something greater with the current going's on at NWThe biggest reason I think this might not be true is that Freeman is quoted as saying that he respects Balis "as a coach and a man". But here's another big loss to the "continuity" that was packaged with the Freeman hire. No more Rees, no more Balis.
100% was what I was thinking at first, but I'm with you, likely a genuine reasoni just saw the freeman quote so yeah it sounds like its more like a genuine personal reason. Without that, you'd definitely be thinking something greater with the current going's on at NW
99% of a S&C coach’s work is the off-season. They are more involved with the players then than the HC is.The timing of this could not be any worse.

So, in reality, this would be the best timing. The off-season ends today.
I wonder if he timed his decision that way.
Eh, in terms of time of year, its probably good. The heavy parts of the offseason program are done and the players are getting back to working with the coaches now.The timing of this could not be any worse.

Also Balis has been in most of the workout videos they have released lately, hasnt he? Okay this explains it. He was so embarrassed at being wrong about Ausberry's squat form that he had to resign. Also Balis has been in most of the workout videos they have released lately, hasnt he? (He gave personal approval to Ausberry’s squat technique.)
If there was an investigation underway into any sort of wrongdoing, they would probably have kept him out of public view, if not out of the locker room entirely. Unless it’s something that caught them totally off guard.
There is an Associate Director, Fred Hale, who was Balis’ second in command.Good points. But won't active rest/recovery/injury management play a huge part in fall camp, and wasn't Balis the guy overseeing that? Or is that moreso the training staff?
Need to know what Singer has to reportPrister and O’Malley have both stated it’s a personal issue for Balis with nothing bad or off about it
Oh that guy! Yes. He is everywhere.Fred Hale

He’s been with the program for at least a few years. You see him on the sidelines all the time when you watch the game on tv.
Yeah they seem more sure of that with each post. Hopefully it is just burnout or something medically mild.Prister and O’Malley have both stated it’s a personal issue for Balis with nothing bad or off about it
he actually does videos on twitter showing people/football players how to do lifts properly without injuring themselves or using bad techI always wondered who that guy was. He seemed really engaged with players.
ND should have really said this in their statement, that it wasn't related to any malpractice or investigationPrister and O’Malley have both stated it’s a personal issue for Balis with nothing bad or off about it
