We complain about the WRs (and we're not wrong) but both Braden Lenzy and Lorenzo Styles would've had 100+ yard games if Buchner could deliver a single accurate deep ball. I counted at least 3 wide open shot plays he whiffed on.

You’re not wrong. The overthrow bullet on the play before the half ended was a backbreaker. Put some air under that & I’m confident even Lenzy runs under it & catches it in stride for a walk in TD.

Dude...what have you seen from Lenzy that would make you think this? Styles had 7 catches today and has played in almost as many games in his career. Lenzy had 1 catch for 5 yards as a Grad student. I don't think Buchner is the guy, but Lenzy does not help this offense.

Overheard an ND hating friend talking to someone else about MF last week. He said “I like the guy, but he will get the ND treatment, and be fired before he even has a chance, because their fans are unreasonable.” I laughed at the absurdity of the notion.

Fast forward a week: People are already calling for MF’s head, wanting to abandon the ND program, etc.

My friend was right. We don’t deserve anything. This poor fucking guy hasn’t even set up his office yet, and we are already wanting him to clean out his desk.

0/10. Everyone on this board wanting MF gone today can quit being a pussy and man up. Strap your seat belt on, because if he isn’t here for at least 3 full seasons, that’s on ND, not him.

He did not have a good day overall. But there were a number of plays where he was WIDE open where Buchner flat out missed the throw:

1) In the first quarter, he had his man beat on a deep post by 1-2 steps. If Buchner hits him in stride, it's at minimum a big chunk play, if not a touchdown. Buchner's pass was late and underthrown, Lenzy had to come back to the ball, it was broken up.
2) The shot play at the end of the first half. For whatever reason (busted coverage?) Lenzy was WIDE OPEN for the easiest TD of his career. Buchner missed the throw.
3) On a third play in the second half, Lenzy ran a go route. He beat his man right off the snap and was wide open by 5 yards. Buchner thought it was an out and threw the ball to no one.

I have a hard time fathoming this... and it's far from being the first time I've heard you guys complain about this sort of thing. I sort of understand if you're up by 40 points and you don't go wild about another TD or defensive stop, but in a close game? WTF??? Crowd noise is a motivator to your team and a problem for the opposition. Why are the ND crowds so reserved?

Went to the game with my daughter who complained about the heat and since she's only 9, I didn't feel comfortable leaving her in the shade of the concourse, so we left in the 2nd quarter. I hate talking bad about players, because I know they are doing their best, but...

Why can't ND quarterbacks anticipate pr throw a WR open? Going back to Book, if not longer. Hiw do we continually miss on our QBs. Rankers suck. Play Angelli.

Estime and Diggs are not elite football starters. Tyree won some races at camps, but wasn't his RB rankings going lower each year? However he needs to be the guy, stop this 3 headed monster stuff. They scare no one.

Our best WR, Styles, I feel is only a Davis level talent on a good offense. Decent hands, not elite speed.
Also, can we stop saying Lenzy is a speed guy? Been saying it for 2 years now. Feel bad for Mayer.

Said it before the season, the weak schedule last year after cincy masked how bad the oline is. No push at all, at Oline U? Against Marshall? Why didn't we recruit any of the guys at Marshall, they seemed good...

Of course this would be the year I get season tickets. I'm not sure how many games I'll actually want to make now.
The crowds at ND suck, and have been for years. Half the crowd isn't even there before the band comes on the field to pump the crowd up. I've taken multiple iowa fans to games, and they always ask if it's always this quiet. We even went to the USC game last year and that was decent for a ND crowd. Which still no where near iowa vs Indiana or PSU that I went to last year. And don't get me started on all the fucks who can't bother to stand to cheer anything. I want to meet all of them at the Irsay YMCA.

Seconded on ND home crowds generally being terrible. I don’t know how to fix it. I’ve been to one game that felt comparable to a good game at Neyland, the 2014 Michigan blowout.

The main concern now is Buchner being legit injured on that hit. I’m afraid it’s an A/C joint sprain which is usually 3-4 weeks. Luckily it’s his non throwing arm. I have no idea where the offense can even go if Buchner can’t play and we can’t utilize his legs.
