This type of reaction is never acceptable. That said I would like to know what was said to set him off.

I gotta assume either the N word or something was said about his mother.

He's been losing it lately. He had another episode the other day that they were talking about. I can't remember exactly what but apparently the stress has been getting to him and he's been acting out.

He threw a temper tantrum against WVU and broke a chair.

Then against ISU, he just acted like a straight punk the entire game (there may have been other events, but these are the two I saw).

I'd be lying if I said I remembered very much from last year, but I really can't remember him having any issues at all.

He needs to be suspended the remainder of the year or at least 10+ games. Touching a fan in that way is never acceptable no matter the circumstance.

Yep those were it, thanks for jogging my memory. Your right he didn't have any issues last year. He was regarded as the perfect teammate by some. I think combining the pressure of losing and now regretting not turning pro is getting to him. I agree with Lax he should be done for the year. You can't allow that. This could drastically impair his draft situation.

Shouldve entered the draft last year. Had a chance to be #1 overall pick. Everything has been going downhill for him this year.

Agree that he needs to be suspended for the rest of the year. Unacceptable to touch a fan.

the guy called him a N*****. Was it acceptable for him to shove that fan? hell no, but that fan has been involved in numerous verbal altercations throughout the years..What smart did was wrong, but that guy is an idiot. Apparently he's called "The superfan" around the Texas Tech area, attends all Raider sporting events and pops off

Smart should be booted for the year, the fan should get his tix revoked.

Like Irish YJ said, both should be punished.

In my job things are said far worse than this to me but with the position I am in I can not react because my reaction would be scrutinized worse than their actions.

In this situation both are at fault but obviously Smart's reaction is worse because of who is. No matter if he likes it or not.

I'm guessing that is probably what happened, but is there proof somewhere? I haven't even seen a statement from anyone saying he called Smart the N word.

Sigh. This will now dominate news and water coolers.

Not that big of a deal, in my opinion.

I disagree. I think this is a big deal and that Smart needs to be made an example of with a lengthy suspension. He walks up to a fan and attacks him. Thats unacceptable. No matter what was said (and I am assuming the worst).

Yeah this matters to me. Smart absolutely should be given a suspension but I think context matters here in determining the duration of it.

The whole situation is a damn shame
