Would be a great idea for him to take some time off. Hell do what the pro's do and go to Cancun. I'm sure he'll be around next week for the award show shit that'll be on Mickey's network

Every time I go to social media it says he’s favored to go to the NFL. I don’t know what’s real anymore.

Has he ever showed interest in the nfl?? I honestly get the feeling he’s a long haul guy here,…

Side: I definitely would want to hear from him on this, if only so someone other than Whiney Pete can be our voice

Figured I'd encapsulate all the info I could find together because I'm neurotic:
Pete Sampson: mentioned twice it the latest ep of his podcast that the extension was being worked on and expects it to be announced within the next few weeks. He has no expectation that MF will leave for the NFL this year.
John Brice: The Giants did vet MF starting last year, MF has not interviewed, mentioned Jay Glazer did not include him on a list of prelim candidates for the job. Extension talks have been received well by both MF and ND
Mike Frank: Giants are/were interested, Freeman had not returned the same level of interest. Does not expect him to leave
Pete B: Comments in PC regarding keeping Marcus at the top of college football in terms of compensation and commitment/alignment
Multiple mentions: Current contract has a very large buyout

Giants media/fans: Mike McCarthy seems to be the most likely/best guess. Joe Schoen mentioned that they would focus on Kafka before turning their attention to the coaching search. Most lists I have found on Giants sites include MF pretty close to the bottom as an outside darkhorse/speculative option.
He's been added to predictive markets like Kalshi, which are not driven by Vegas or insiders but rather public request.
Schefter: Mentioned MF would be one of the first coaches he would call, did not mention any openings to my knowledge.

If Freeman is going to bolt, I hope he does it immediately! I don't need to crawl out of this hole, only to fall back in it a few weeks later.

Current buyout is in the $50M range and does not have a carve out for the NFL so anyone who wants him would have to REALLY want him

...or hope the ND lawyers did a better job with the language in this one than they did with BK's

Wait, are you saying he has a $50 m walk buyout?

That would have to be the biggest ever.

Those are usually relatively miniscule because coaches don't want to be pinned down.

That’s got to be the amount for ND to fire Freeman though, huh? No way an agent would agree to that for a coach to leave for another job.

Also, what are you implying in the second paragraph?

Would be a wild move to go from Mike Tomlin to Mike Tomlin Part 2. I just think the offensive minded/QB guru type coach will be the wave for the next several years still.
It's a type of leader to leader comparison and tbf, I am assuming a team that has only had 3 head coaches in the last 55 years targets a profile. I think Freeman fits that profile.

I'm not going to put such evil into print, but I will say today's events have caused me to imagine a set of circumstances that would finally and unequivocally result in my never watching another college football game in my miserable life.

Jeff Hafley leaving BC for the NFL made a ton of sense given the circumstances.

Freeman leaving ND (or Ohio State) for any NFL job is a really bad idea.

With the benefit of hindsight, the lawyers did an outstanding job with the buyout language in BK's contract.
