Bad coaching? Is coaching why Hartman didn’t pick up either first, is coaching why we couldn’t haul in and missed 2 easy picks that last drive? I don’t care how good of a coach you are players need to make
Plays
Dude, you had 10 men on the field. You didn’t have a DE. Ohio State ran it right where the missing player was. That is utterly inexcusable.
And that was coming out after a timeout. That is Pop Warner level b.s.
On 3rd and 19, you only rush 3 players, and drop 7 or 8 (unfortunately, this is something that you have to look and verify…) into coverage. First down. You’ve been getting after his ass all day. Whythe f*** do you all of a sudden drop and play soft zone? Colorado State did the same thing against CU…changed its defensive philosophy to a bend and don’t break defense and Sanders marched CU 96+ yards down the field in 60 seconds or so to tie the game. Again, why change your philosophy?
On your last drive, instead of trying to bleed the clock, you get cute and waste barely any time. A couple of knees to kill the clock and you win.
I get you probably love MF and think he looks “fresh” in his ND gear, but that was a coaching failure.
ETA: and I agree that players have to make the plays. Shrader needs to make that kick. Hartman needs to get that first. Whoever the DB was needs to make that pick. However, you had many players out there, many players you likely didn’t expect too much (Mitchell Evans for example) play their asses off and made big, critical plays. The entire team isn’t always going to play flawlessly….the team and players showed up. The fans showed up. The coaches, however, didn’t.
