If Louisville scores a TD there with ~2 minutes left and they go for two, do any of you honestly trust RL to lead the offense down the field into field goal range against any defense with a pulse? Because I definitely do not.
Agreed. Why celebrate the win when we can make up scenarios for the game where we lose?

Well they didn't. Cuz the defense stopped them. We can run over what ifs over and over again, but it doesn't mean shit. What if ND has all of its starters available? What if Marcus Freeman put in Angeli? If ifs and buts were candy and nuts, everyday would be Christmas.
None of this matters. We hammer Purdue, and it isn't good enough because it is Purdue. We then beat a MAC team by 23, and it isn't good enough. We then beat a ranked team and it isn't good enough. This site has become almost unreadable with the amount of armchair qbs that are here. Many of them don't really want MF to succeed, as it lends credence to their "ND isn't doing enough to win a NC" narrative, without ever realizing that that is an almost impossible standard. It is easy for me to say, "this team or that team sucks because they didn't win the championship." Am I excusing losing to Northern Illinios? No. But many people haven't really seen a game since that, whether they watched it or not, and base every opinion on that game, and Marshall and Stanford from 2 years ago. For all the Driscoll bitching on this site, at least he tries to provide actual insight vs old man, get off my lawn, commentary.

Do Alabama, Georgia, OSU, etc., lose to schools like NIU, Marshall, etc.? There are red flags all over the place, both about this year's team and about MF as a HC. Posters are just pointing that out.

Those teams dont struggle week in, week out no matter what the team across from them is. ND got a lot of lucky bounces and could have very easily been a 2 win team now

There’s something weird going on with Price too. I know he fumbled but damn. Sat him the rest of the game. Something feels off
He’s young and plays with a certain lack of discipline. That’s this teams trademark.

Not every year, but stuff like that happens to top teams too. LSU lost to Troy two seasons before they won it all. UGA lost to 4-8 South Carolina in 2019, two years later they win it all. Texas looks good right now, they've lost to Iowa State, TCU, Kansas, Baylor, and West Virginia since Sark took over. The year before DeBoer went to the CFP championship his UDub Huskies lost in Tempe to a 3-9 ASU team.

Good teams lose to bad teams, it's college football. At some point, you have to take the step to be great. That's what we're missing right now. I know Louisville isn't a world-beater, but they're a solid team. When all is said and done, they may be the best team we face in the regular season and we escaped with a win. We have to keep making the next step until we have a chance to make a statement win.

I've made peace with the fact that ND may win out but with no really tough matchups remaining and then likely lose (potentially get clobbered) in a CFB playoff game. And then just be more hopeful for next season with CJ Carr. But these games this season are not going to be much help towards getting some top '25 WRs and a new '25 QB target on board.

He got us down there to try one against NIU didn’t he?!

1: That was really not fun to watch.

2: If we take a few years off from playing Louisville that'll be fine. Brohm made some game management mistakes but that is a tough, well-coached team just like last year.

3: I'd trade our QB for theirs. And that WR transfer from Alabama was the best WR on the field.

4: It's a win. Over probably the highest-ranked team we will play this season. At some level you have to celebrate that. Survive and advance.

5: I get the fear that we're going to drop another but the defense will keep us in every game. So deep with ballplayers at all three levels. I think most games our offense will eventually break through like they did today on the Love screen pass. Until USC anyway, we only beat ourselves.

6: Damn those injuries. The play before Traore got hurt he hunted down their RB from behind and I told my kid he's gonna be a first-round pick. Faison flashed for the first time this season and then went out. Pendleton? Gray? Glad we've got a bye week to regroup where we can.

7: But, again, we are so deep. Watching all those freshmen taking serious reps on defense in a must-win game. The future is bright.
I had approx 100 oz of Coors Light and had a good time watching the boys win.

You will never get much success with it at ND absent putting nice quarter zip jackets on every seat.

ND isn't a state school and it isn't a small stadium. You can be one or the other and pull off color outs. It also hurts that green is a color ND wears once a year. I don't think it matters...color outs are very 2011. I did hear the fans make a bit of noise today, that was nice.

The L’villes fans were pieces of shit going into the game. Maybe the worst visiting fans I’ve ever been around.

Anyway, it was great throwing it back in their face.

The only negative interactions I saw with Louisville fans was post game in the stadium parking lot. Drunk college kids getting into it with some Notre Dame kids. Basically, your stadium environment is a joke, none of you and you went to school here, etc. Other than that, they were all pretty great for the most part. Maybe I was just lucky?

Wonder if we see Sneed move to DE with now two DEs out. KVA, Bowen, and Ausberry are more than holding their own at LB and this would help cover a new gap by keeping athleticism on the field.

Does Jack Kiser play this year? I haven't noticed him all year.
