Hate: michigan (more than I hate almost anything-stop playing them in football forever please), USC(play them forever in football please), fsu, miami, almost every announcing team

I've never been to Memphis, but I get how enjoying a city can lead to a soft spot for the football team.

I love Louisville (town). Unfortunately, their fans were so fricken unbearable when I went in 2019, so I can't transfer my love for the city to any sort of admiration for their team. Bunch of assholes. Thanks for the dub and the bourbon, though!

As a Bama fan, I honestly don't hate any school or fanbase. I find TAMU and Tennessee annoying with their blueblood view of themselves backed up by no recent blueblood success, and LSU fans can be over the top crazy, but I don't even strongly dislike any of them. I don't even hate Auburn. I just find Auburn fans insufferable, but in an almost comical way. Their entire existence, their entire persona is based on hating and complaining about Bama. They turn into a caricature of spluttering frustration. I lived in Auburn on two occasions for a total of 3 years. Nice town, but the Bama obsession thing is way beyond unhealthy and definitely holds their program back. Even Pat Dye and Charles Barkley said so and tried to get them to stop doing it. They're funny at times, though. When they get rolling, it's like watching Gollum have a meltdown.

I get my love of the Irish from my Mom's Irish-Catholic side of the family.

My Dad loves Alabama because his all-time favorite player is Joe Namath.

So, I root for them unless they play ND or unless ND needs them to lose.

I also really like Army - I had some family members go there.

I HATE the following: Southern Cal, Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State, LSU, FSU

I went to a small school about 30 minutes away from Mizzou and I'm orginally from the Chicago area. I already hated STL sports and then came in contact with mizzou fans. The final nail in the coffin was going to a sports bar in Columbia to watch ND/USC and they refused to put it on a single TV. 70+ tvs all tuned to STL cardinals and mizzou tigers. I've despised them ever since

Yeah that's annoying. I was in Green Bay back in 2018 the same day that Wiscy played scUM, and they accommodated me by putting ND/Pitt on a small TV at the bar.

I had a phone with an IR remote at the time, so before leaving I changed all the channels. I feel like I won in the end 😂

Hate:
- Michigan (far moreso than USC, TBH). Just so arrogant.
- A&M. Maybe no program whose fan base has more self-regard, with less actual results. Culty paramilitary weirdos, to boot.
- BC. I'm from Boston so I've known them my whole life and the wannabe little cousin complex is strong with these ones. (but every now and then they get one over on us, and never let us forget it).
- Mizzou. I lived in St. Louis for a long time and, well, they have no idea how little the rest of college football thinks about them. I don't think about Mizzou enough anymore either to "hate" them, but disdain would be fair.

A theme is programs that act like they're better than they are and like to rub everyone's nose in it. I have no real beef with the legitimately good teams (like Bama or Ohio State or Georgia). I used to hate Florida State and (way back) Nebraska and thought they were kind of evil, but at this point they're just sad.

Historically…..definite yes. Post Conner Stallions cheating….. I now cheer for pOSU. I guess I need to change my answer to the OP’s question.

You have to understand that I’ve interacted with obnoxious buckeye fans on a weekly basis for as long as I can remember.

I usually root against whichever program has the most to lose in that game. If one can wreck the others season with a win, I want that team to win.

Last year in the moment, OSU had more to lose, so I wanted Michigan.

This is pretty much spot on IMO. I think I'd drop Stanford to distaste as well, now that we are far removed from the Shaw years, but they were definitely hate back then. Pitt definitely up there for me.

I've always liked Sparty. I guess enemy of your enemy, but East Lansing was also a lot of fun back in the day.

Grams is a big IU fan, so I’ve always rooted for the Hoosiers.

I hate SCum and scUM by far the most. Couldn’t say which one I hate more. Purdue and Kentucky can both fuck off too.

If I wasn't a ND fan, I'd be a fan of Texas, Clemson, Georgia, or Florida. At various points of my childhood, I was enamored with those programs at one time or another. I feel that way about a handful of baseball teams too.

Teams I will never cheer for: Michigan, Purdue, Penn State, Ohio State, Bayou Brian.

OSU vs UM game: I always prefer one of two outcomes: 1) a game in which both teams look like absolute dog shit and Michigan loses or 2) a game in which OSU beats Michigan by 50.

Oddly enough, I don't hate USC. I hated losing to them during the Carroll years, but never truly hated them. USC @ ND tailgates are some of the best times I've had.

I wasn't born into CFB fanhood by any means. I started my CFB life as a Miami fan actually. Those 2000-2002 super teams really drew me in. I became an Irish fan during the 2005 green jersey USC "Bush push" game. I'm not sure what watching that game and coming away with a lifelong love of the loser says about me, but I don't dwell on it.

One of my best friends is an Auburn grad and the worst of the worst "barners." He's so bad that even the other Auburn fans in our circle roll their eyes at him and laugh when he gets made fun of. A few weeks ago, he was gloating and taunting about FSU beating us. One of our friends replied, "You didn't beat us. You haven't beaten us in almost 6 years. You haven't beaten anyone in almost 6 years. You haven't had a winning season since 2019. Sit down and be quiet!" LOL

Even though I'm a Bama guy, I liked Bo. I met him a couple of times when he was a student. He was a nice guy and easy to deal with. I think most of my fellow Bama fans like him. Heck, we all like Sir Charles too.

Boomers seem to universally adore Bo Jackson. Him, Barry Sanders, and Michael Jordan. I dont think millennials have anyone like that.

Some of us millennials are old enough to remember to MJ. Can't remember Bo or Barry at all. Probably the only reason I remember MJ is because of growing up outside of Chicago
