Pay the fine, why do people constantly want to bring drama into their lives? You sped, you got caught, pay the man. It sucks, I know.

On a side note, here's how I as a father, think about these things. If my son got caught at school, doing something he should not have been doing, would I encourage him to look for a loophole? No, I'd tell him to take his punishment and learn from it. As a father, I recommend you act how you want your children to act. They will be watching anyway.

Of course, I also tell my kids not to trust the cops so I would also support your efforts to fuck the man.

Thanks for the feedback.

Confirmed: I'm a low life scum bag. I appreciate the help from those of you who took the time to peer down from your moral pedestal to help me get on the straight and narrow.

You should spend the weekend in jail to protest this injustice. Make sure to tell the judge just how unfair this truly was

I never said this was an injustice. I was speeding 9 mph over and am guilty of that.

Paying/not paying the ticket isn't going to change my driving behavior. There's no lesson to learn that's not already known. I will go 9 mpg over 65 when passing someone again if it's necessary whether I have to pay this or not.

Sounds bad but we all do it. And 99% of the time it's not ticketed. He just happened to not issue the original ticket to me in this case.

I only brought it up because my friend did that, spent the whole weekend in jail. I think he learned his lesson.

Counterpoint: Always play "gotcha" with the police. They are almost always trying to play "gotcha" with you.

Sure. But that is why I asked my question before saying that. He said he was speeding. So if he really was, pay it.

He charged me going 9 MPH over while passing in a 65 on my way home from a Church service with my family.

He played "gotcha".

So, yes you were speeding, but not at a dangerous level.

Maybe I am in the minority here, but I am of the opinion that....

- going over 75 in a 65 is leaving you almost always getting a ticket if you get caught
- going 72-75 in a 65 is risking it.....depends on the mood of the cop or flow of traffic
- getting a ticket for doing anything below a 71 in a 65 is redonk

So, yes, I would say your speed wasn't egregious, but it was in that risk zone. But in the end, you were speeding and I would personally just pay it and move on.

He is a victim.

He's been savaged by the long member of the law, for the minor crime of driving too fast.

(I bet he didn't use his manners when he got pulled over. He would've gotten a warning otherwise.)
