Is that his twitter? I must have missed something.

Its only him using this person if its his twitter?

If he has a good year being "johnny football" do you honestly think he goes to rehab? Shows up at this hospital?

No, he's gonna be on Twitter with two models drunk in a bar, or passed out in a Vegas pool, or rolling up a bill for some booger sugar.

Can make the counter-argument that being hit with some adversity for the first time in life has maybe had a positive impact on his life.

How do you know he wasn't going to childrens hospitals before this year? It's sad that you are assuming that someone is so malicious that they would go visit sick children with the hopes that they tweet out photos of the visit.

Edit: Here im sure Johnny went to this childrens event last year just in case he played poorly this season Johnny Manziel visits Youth Challenge | cleveland.com

This is the first adversity in his life?

And to Gattaca, maybe its sad on my part to assume but his history of actions lead me to it.

I'm sure I'm the bad guy here tho....

He also likes to selfishly risk the hard work of all of his team mates for money his trust fund riding butt didn't even need... Then turn around and act the victim over it all...

Sorry, but he's a complete doucher...

Yep, all of us average joes who know nothing about liking to party, or doing the right thing are the unbelievable ones.....

All hail St. Manziel!

I actually think that while in rehab he received a lot of therapy. The therapist probably suggested to do this thing with the children's hospital. Maybe to help Johnny get the focus off of himself and see the big picture. To see that he is truly blessed to be where he is and to see how many others are truly suffering. Maybe the feeling/joy that he gets when he puts a smile on a sick kid's face breaks through the selfish bubble in which he lives. Maybe this can make Johnny believe in something "bigger" than him...like his team.

So im sure you wouldn't mind a camera in your face every friday night after you hit the bars? The kid has done and said some stupid things, no doubt. But some of the ppl on this board have an unbelievable amount of hate for Johnny. There are dozens of much worse athletes that deserve the vitriol Manziel gets.

Gattaca, why do you feel the need to stuck up for the Money Badger? The guy is a joke, he's not a professional athlete, he's just a kid that knows how to get his way and do business. I'd wager he'll never become a decent NFL QB, and not just because he asked Cleveland to pick him up.

But not many of them have been shoved down people's throats as much as JFF was and is to this day.

Even Tebow, at his height, was NEVER shoved down fans' throats to this extent...and he is a paragon of virtue.

This kid could drive me crazy at AtM and I thought he was a total d bag then,... but I could tune him out just fine because he played for a team in a conference I don't give two sh1ts about.... It does burn my that he's on my team now and I can't ignore him, that he's negatively impacted my team and that my team was dumb enough to use a first round pick on him when he was at best a third round talent with issues... All IMO of course

Seems like it from what I know of his story. Born into a rich family that was always able to send him to camps to improve his game. The "Johnny Football" nickname was one he earned while dominating in high school, where he was starting at a big-time school by his sophomore year. Had to redshirt (not exactly much adversity), then dominated again for two years while being able to do whatever he wanted off-the-field. So ya, this seems to be the first real adversity he's faced on the football field. Maybe he'll be an idiot still in the future. Maybe he's realized he can't just show up and perform like he could in high school and college and has his head on straight.

This kid is already rich and is already a celebrity. If he didn't care about being a better QB, he wouldn't have gone to rehab. He just turned 22 in December....give him some time....I think I (and many other ppl) would have been getting into more stupid sh!t at age 21 in his situation than he did. Again, he's 22. He has plenty of time to get his head straight. He's not a Tebow with horrid mechanics, and it always seemed like his A&M guys played hard for him and rallied around him. If he's actually dedicated to football, there's no reason why he can't easily be the equivalent of a Russell Wilson at QB.

Paragraph 1 - I still find it hard to believe in his 22 years (not exact sure on age) his failures on the field were the first sign of adversity in his life. 21 perfect years of living? I don't think you suddenly need rehab in year 22. He has just been either talented, rich, or lucky enough to have got where he is by not addressing the other things that were adverse in his life.

Paragraph 2 - I agree he suddenly cares or he wouldnt have went to rehab. But is it he cares about football, or is it he cares about something else (future monies, his image, etc.). We don't really know and probably never will.

And, yes the old "what would I have done being as rich as him and how much trouble...." The answer is this there are a million other rich and talented 21/22 year old kids out there. Some are douchers and some arent. That's life, and it doesn't mean those who are douchers should get a pass. Poor excuse IMO. Parenting is an issue with those no doubt, but there are also a ton of kids who have poor parenting and don't end up douchers.

I do agree he has time to get his head on straight, and maybe he will, but that doesnt mean hell figure it out on the football field either. There are good college players every year that live life with values and work hard who dont make it in the NFL just as there are idiots and douchers running around making millions for years and years.

But to feel bad for a kid who has taken advantage of almost everything in front of him to date, I am not sure how people can honestly do that. But to each their own. And just because this kid has a thread with some criticism doesnt mean people dont feel the same way about other atheltes who have done worse, but they arent on TV weekly/monthly or are as polarizing as JFM. The criticism is going to happen and dont feel like its unjust or needs defended. It's life, he wasnt the first and wont be the last.

You don't find any irony in the fact that you're ripping Johnny for being immature as you call a 21 year old kid names.

I didn't create the nickname, I just thought it was appropriate. He acts like a kid, so he should be treated like one. Seriously, Cleveland has had a lot of horrible QBs the last 10-15 years, and some didn't always get a fair shake, but most of them were respectable/respectful at least. He's a PR nightmare. From the minute he was Drafted it was a stupid move on the Browns' part. It's unlikely he's going to clean up long term and get his head in the game, he's relied on his athleticism too much to get where he is today, and he probably knew that. He took the Browns organization for suckers, which they were, and he was able to con his way into a first round pick. Athleticism only gets you so far in the NFL, and when you can't unseat Brian Hoyer as the starting QB that should say something.

According to Chris Mortensen of ESPN, the Browns are “90 percent done” with Johnny Manziel. It sounds like they're going to trade up again and possibly take Mariotta, unless they have another plan.

So, GATTACA, who do you think is better for the organization and the starting QB spot? Manziel or Mariotta?

Rhetorical question.

I view him as a 21 year old man.

One that 18, a man that is, that could have fought and died for his country.

Men younger than him have died as heroes having earned that title.

The kid days are over.

The "Money Badger" days are here.

Mariotta? I haven't been defending Johnny as a player? Ive been criticizing you for acting like Manziel is a convicted felon, and hypocritically calling him childish names.

Also the notion that he "conned" the Browns into drafting him is hilarious. He was considered by most to be a top 2 or 3 QB in the last draft class. The Browns didn't draft Johnny because he texted the QB coach.

Is he the Browns long term answer at QB? At this point it looks highly unlikely. If i was in the Browns FO I would give him more than 5 quarters to find out, mostly because i wouldn't want to give up on a 1st round pick that quickly.

What i wouldn't do is childishly call him names or claim to know his ulterior motives for trying to better himself as a person.

I don't fault him for going to rehab, but a lot of celebrities go to rehab and it's not always in earnest. Perception and reality are two different things. You perceive that Manziel is a good kid that unjustly is getting ridiculed. I perceive that he's an adult that doesn't act like one and didn't shake his party side despite the Browns investing a lot of money in him. I'm sure the reality is somewhere between those two perceptions.
