It would just mean we'd have to play Georgia next round instead. Granted PSU's path is a joke, though, especially compared to Oregon/OSU.

I just started this for my own curiosity so sharing in case anyone finds it interesting. I looked at ND's most notable opponents against the metrics I think tell the best picture, Points Per game, Yards Per game, Yards Per Rush, Yards per Pass. Did this for both offense and defense. Added "last 3 games" with a note of where Georgia would rank if we only looked at their last 3 games. I'm sure I fat fingered a few times.

How is their OL? I think that is the key factor to this game.
Strong up the middle. Weaker on the edges. Injuries sidelined a few of the players for extended stints during the season, so there hasn't always been a consistent starting 5. The time off will probably help this unit more than any other on the dawgs roster.

Both guards made AA teams (one AFCA and one PFF) and the center is solid too. All three are probably 2nd to 3rd rd draft kinda talents.

The tackles have been an issue. The original starting LT (#71) is probably a guard at the next level and was pretty bad in the first part of the season due to trying to battle through injury. He was replaced with #57 who was a small improvement, but he's inexperienced. Once #57 gets more experience he has the potential to be a 1st or 2nd rd draft pick, but he's not there yet. Unsure, if the 3 weeks off will heal up #71 enough to start again.

The RT (#73) is a huge guy, but doesn't really have the feet to play tackle at the next level. He's a 5th to 7th round draft kinda guy.

Hasn’t former croot Monroe Freeling been getting some run for their OL toward the end of the season? Is he #57 in the post above?

Yep, that is correct. He's going to be a good one, but he's still a young pup and can miss assignments at time.

AtM is a better rushing team than Georgia this year. Thats not to say it won’t be a challenge, but Georgia struggled running against teams with a pulse for much of the year.
One thing to keep in mind is how the injuries piled up for UGA at RB this year. Looks like they should have Etienne back to 100% from a rib injury, will probably have Branson Robinson back from a MCL sprain, and may have Rodrick Robinson back from a turf toe injury.

Also, the OL was pretty banged up at times. This isn't to say that UGA's run game is a world beater, but getting everyone back healthy could make a difference from what was seen throughout the year.

For reference, Georgia is 45th in Rush Success and 107th in Explosiveness

That includes games against Tennessee Tech and UMASS.

I do believe they will look as good as they have all year in the run game but it’s not a vaunted rushing attack by any means

I certainly agree that UGA was below average running the ball this season. No question.

But the real question is how relevant is that data set?

Schematically speaking it's a big difference to go from a QB that does not need to be accounted for in the run game vs one that does. Essentially the offense goes from playing 10 vs 11 to 11 vs 11 when running the ball.

Box scores and advanced stats can be very useful tools, but they have limitations.

A more interesting analysis would be UGA's run game in the first half vs the second half against Texas. IMO that could give more insight than the numbers amassed during the regular season.

I feel like this board is trying to lower expectations and starting to accept a loss.

Fuck that! We will deal with that IF it happens! Have faith in our boys! We have the best coaching staff in America and they have this team peaking at the right time!

Go Irish!

This is the way.

The train has left the station, and there are no brakes.

Will the train get derailed, or will it reach its final destination?

Regardless, this train is running at a speed that is much faster than the ones in 2012, 2018, and 2020. It has the ability to plow through anything in its path, unlike those ones.

You can buckle up if you’d like, but you can’t get off.

The ND team has been we played in a big game. Last night was a regular season home game for them.

They are traveling to a neutral site with a team that is more talented and built to grind you down.

I have a feeling they do make mistakes and they do look slow.

This is essentially a big stage game and I don’t think Freeman and that all white team is ready

34-13 Dawgs

Not sure if I did this right. Hopefully I did. A Georgia fans thoughts on ND and the game. Oh and when did ND become an all white team? If anyone can clean dis up foh me. Post a better link. TYIA

Are you clueless? I’d argue ND has way better athletes than Georgia this year. And all White?

i'm pretty confident that our irish can beat UGA even without Mills because GT doesn't have any DTs close to what Mills is dominating wise and yet they almost and should have beaten the bulldogs at Athens

I mean, that’s one of the reasons why Georgia was able to score 21 in the fourth quarter and eventually won.

Tech's most effective defense in that game wasn’t stopping Georgia’s offense but sustaining drives, controlling the clock, and keeping Georgia's offense off the field. ND needs to do the same or they're going to lean on us until we break.

In his defense, back when this was a proper board, we used the italics fonts for such things 🤠

Jordan van den Berg gave Georgia fits. I hope Cross can be as disruptive.
