I think your definition is correct but I doubt we will be making a new term to describe teams that have been good at football since the boomers made it to college or where "championships are the standard" or whatever phrases people want to say.In an ideal world, yes, "blueblood" would indicate old money (or an old-timey powerhouse with multiple old-timey championships.) Unforunately, it's commonly used today to mean "good at football in recent years." This is how Clemson and Georgia and Penn State became "bluebloods" despite one combined (highly debatable) NC prior to 1980.
