Not only is there no interim coach, but he apparently *sees no need* for an interim coach. He seems to think the staff will be fine to just wing it in the bowl game (God forbid it's the CFP).

The only positive I can take from that debacle is that Jack is implying he has a lot of resumes/options that piled up in 12 hours - needs time to assess. This creates negotiating leverage with Freeman who knows damn well ND HC is the baddest ass position on his table by a country mile. ND can sniff around a bit to leverage a slightly better contract with Freeman.

Anyone think Freeman isn't in contact with all these recruits and players who are pumping him up? He is winning the PR battle big time and really showing why he is such a great recruiter - essentially recruiting himself for HC at ND right now. Freeman is playing the "No place I would rather be" card with everyone while also giving himself the out of "not his decision to make".

Sure I think Freeman is the best candidate (that I know of). Sure a quick reactionary hire good smooth over recruiting in a pinch. But maybe there's a path to Fickell and keeping Freeman? Maybe there's a path we don't know about?
