irish commit: "we need a quarterback"

Is this really how the 9 months of off season are going to go on here? We're going to call out a kid (Baratti) that spoke his mind about something as obvious as boy's have a penis and girl's have a vagina? The guy was dead on. Who cares what he said? He doesn't wear an Irish uniform yet.

He said something that we all have been saying for the past two years. When you have two even three QBs, you have none.

No, not at all. In fact he followed that quote up saying he's playing safety.

Let's all just PRAY this recruiting class holds together and if it does it'll be go time for Everett Golson.

My initial thought that was when Kiel ditched us, they rest would crumble. We'll see how it pans out.

A missed field goal and three bad INT's are not the coaches fault. Those were some badly thrown balls. It would have been 4 if Floyd isn't being Floyd in the end zone.

Two picks were in the end zone which is at the VERY, VERY least 6 points (two field goals). Another pick setup FSU in terrific field position and then add the missed field goal. I'll even give Ruffer the benefit of the doubt on this one as it was a 48 yarder from the left hash. Well within his career long of 52 but still a tough kick.

Even on one of the balls that Rees tried throwing away a defender got his hands on it.

Kelly is the OC and QB coach.

I suppose we will just agree to disagree. I don't know how it can be the coaches fault after the same mistakes are made all season. What else is he supposed to say to the kid?

Teach better? Yell more? Oh wait, his face already turns 10 shades of purple as it is.

We go undefeated this year with a clausen or
Quinn at qb. Stop that.

Stop that, thats the most ridiculous statement yet.

Not false. After this year we have no real #1 WR, perhaps only in name due to graduation. We have no real power RB, our secondary gets a crash course and chances are that we are starting another new QB next year. We are far from being there.

And Brindza has been as inconsistent as Ben Turk. He went from kicking touchbacks on every kickoff to kicking them out of bounds and to the twenty. Though, I'm sure that'll improve in his second year.

He spoke his mind and is still committed to ND so i think that makes it ok for him to speak about a problem everyone in the world could notice.

I remember reading or hearing that they were working on changing his kicks to make them higher to give coverage guys more time to get downfield.

Personally, if I were Rees, Hendrix and Golson I would kick his ***, tell him to shut his rookie *** up and then send him to Manti Teo to kick his *** and tell him how Notre Dame does things.. And then send him to Kelly to tell him to start running wind sprints and learn the lesson that you shut your friggin mouth when talking about your teammates.

Did any of you clowns ever play on a football team?

Boom what? If it was 1965 and you witnessed Bill Zloch would you have been the guy saying "boom" when some recruit said ND needs a QB? We have two QB's who have seen (a) little and (b) no playing time. Yet, you act as if you, and some recruit who's not smart enough to shut his mouth, are authorities on the QB position.

Now, fast forward from 1965 to the current year, the cusp of 2012.

Imagine a conference arrangement in the southeast has created a brainless draft stock of college players with no real academic standards.

Imagine now, that athletes that had previously sought higher marks now care only about pro potential schools.

The good news: we can still compete at ND with a few good men; leaders at the helm on offense and defense. ND still has enough nostalgia to get it back, and we still send kids to the pros often with great degrees behind them.

We have leaders on offense. But I'm still under the school of thought in the huddle, our best leader is a QB that makes sound decisions on the field as an example to how he will lead in the huddle...

Boom, we need a QB.

The man to do the job wasn't available this year,

We very well could have the next big thing in our hands with Hendrix and Golson.

But I'd eat a pile of ten day dead crow if Tommy Rees is that man.

"Turd bucket" just doesn't get it's proper due in society anymore.

Let's hope 2012 doesn't bring our newer generations the lack of luxury to understand its meaning in entirety, myself included.

Damn Mayans...

Well, with our schedule next year, I can't see us being much better since we're losing our biggest threat on the offensive side of the ball, coupled with our loss at CB and our lack of a clear cut #1 QB. The kid can say what he wants, but I said at the beginning of the year, in order to keep and maintain the momentum Kelly wanted going into 2012, 8-5 or even 9-4 wasn't going to cut it this year. Is ND better off now, or are there just other problems? It was player development, and now it seems to be turnovers, the lack of a QB, or whatever the flavor of the month excuse is. The bottom line is I'm sick of making excuses and dealing with the lack of objectivity here on the board. First half of the FSU game we have people talking about how our defense is BCS caliber. Yea, okay, because they had four true freshmen linemen who were struggling to adapt. ND is going to be the death of me. I'm going into next season with 8-5 as my expectation.

At least 82 players on the team agree. We need a QB. I bet Rees couldn't kick anyone's *** anyway.

ah, I give the kid the benefit of the doubt...I think he was saying we need a QB in his class. If he was commenting on QB play...well he was pissed just like us, and I hope that connotes some ownership of the program, and not framing up an excuse to bail.

I know what you are saying...but I don't think anyone whacks a guy until he signs paper....then he is ours, and we start the process of defining expectations of "teammate". Until then momma and daddy...maybe HS coach might help him understand what not to say.

That is the popular and realistic consensus.

Well I feel like the direction of the program would have been better validated with a more positive win/loss record than the 8-5 this year. I said at the beginning of this season that 10-2 or 9-3 is where we should be to show adequate progression. Now that was my prediction with a quality nucleus coming back, but next year, it's hard to imagine how we are going to produce results on the field to show ND is close to being a top program again. Our secondary will be stripped and we'll be losing our best offensive player and our go to guy on offense. We will also be breaking in a new QB so I can see how 8-5 is the popular logic.
