It's official. Notre Dame is now the most injury plagued team in college football. Let me know if I miss somebody:

Louis Nix (out for season after knee surgery)
Stephon Tuitt (playing off sports hernia surgery)
Sheldon Day (playing with a high-ankle sprain)
Chase Hounshell (out for season after shoulder surgery)
Tony Springmann (out for season after knee surgery)
Isaac Rochell (playing with high-ankle sprain)
Jarron Jones (playing with high-ankle sprain)
Kona Scwhenke (missed last 2 games with high-ankle sprain)
Ishaq Williams (out with ACL injury, questionable for rest of season)
Nicky Baratti (out for season with shoulder injury)
Ben Councell (out for season with knee injury)
Jarrett Grace (out for season with broken leg)
Doug Randolph (out for season with shoulder injury)
Danny Spond (retired due to migraines)
Elijah Shumate (back after missing 3 games with hamstring injury)
Christian Lombard (out for season after back surgery)
Nick Martin (playing with a broken hand)
Will Mahone (Out for season with Groin injury)
Daniel Smith (Out for season with Fractured Ankle)
Greg Bryant (Out for season after knee procedure)
Chris Watt (Playing with a PCL injury)
Torii Hunter Jr (Out for season with broken leg)

Let's tally those up along with the offseason losses:

Everett Golson (suspended for season due to academics)
Gunner Kiel (transfers to Cincy)
Davonte Neal (transfers to Arizona)
Justin Ferguson (transfers to Western Michigan)
Brad Carrico (medical hardship)
Tate Nichols (medical hardship)

Holy Jesus, Not even Florida is this injury plagued! Heck, comparing these two, at least ND is bowl eligible.

These injuries actually have me quite concerned about NDs chances vs. BYU. I wanna see these seniors win at home one last time!

To say nothing of Stanford. Really hoping Kona and Ishaq are 100% by then.

I counted these up for an article last week, and I got north of 20. Off the top of my head, you're missing Randolph, Smith, Mahone, Baratti (a bigger loss than most realize), Collinsworth, Zaire (mono)...

The bottom line is that we're playing with less than 60 scholarship players right now. That's absolutely insane.

Also, Brian Kelly saying that there are a half dozen additional guys who will need surgery after the season is beyond disturbing. I don't know if I've ever seen a team get this ravaged by injuries.

Contrast this with Stanford... lost 1 significant player all year. WTF?

Sorry, I was going more for major contributors. But to think of it having Zaire this year would've definitely helped.

Smith played quite a bit, Baratti would've been a starter if he didn't get hurt... other guys not so much.

I totally forgot about Hunter Jr. being out because of pre-season injury. He was the consensus best WR prospect signed last class.

Which is saying something considering that the other three freshman WRs all contributed this year.

we can say fucking?

edit: surprised.

My reaction exactly. I appreciated when my first name (all too often abused) was "liberated" to allow references to Nixon and Vitale. Vulgarity is a part of life.

With limits???

Tate Nichols too?

I remember when Kelly was so immediate in answering the "will Notre Dame be at 85 scholarships this year?" question last February. Here it is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=p-d5LXAbNgw#t=2443

As much as I feel for the hurt players, I also feel for the uninjured and the coaches. They put in a ton of work for it to melt away like this.

Oh and Chris Watt. He missed a game and has been playing through injury.
