Young kids taking lumps early and sticking around are dangerous...in only the best way possible. If you want guys who are tough and want to claw and fight for every inch, it's those guys who know what getting kicked in the teeth feels like.

Seriously, you guys are ridiculous. Kap, Teo, all those guys saw some of the toughest years of ND football and it molded them into great leaders. I want guys who know what it feels like to lose. It makes them appreciate winning even more.

I call bullshit on this part. Lets be honest we would all prefer if we were 11-0 and our players knew shit about losing because we were stomping every team. That is a complete rationalization.

Well of course I wish things always worked out and we always went undefeated, but this isn't a land of rainbow unicorns and fairy dust. My statement is completely true. I believe it's completely okay (and a great learning experience) for a young team to take lumps.

Yup...think Theo Ridick and Manti Teo, KLM, and the cast of characters from 2012...they came up taking lumps...and they were mentally one of the toughest teams I've seen...One play, one quarter, one game at a time...and they weren't just sayin it.

I don't like who this team is...right now. But you have to expect they will chieve somehting big.

I would say that if we are going to lose that I want them to learn from it and have that drive them to win in the future. Your comment however was "I want guys who know what it feels like to lose." which is only true if the two options are lose and don't learn from it and lose and learn from it. The moment that any positive is added (winning) we (you included) would gladly take it.

Also losing can be habit forming (cough, Browns, cough) and can greatly harm a team's morale. The flames of defeat can just as easily break a team as it can make it stronger.

A lot of us are on the ledge right now. Coaching has been suspect, kicking game sucks, D is getting trounced, Golson can't seem to hold on to the ball, etc. The positives are lots of underclassman getting good reps. Fuller and Folston are legit. Cole Luke also. It seems dark now, but a thin roster due to suspensions and injuries, along with turnovers is a recipe for disaster. I miss Tuitt and Nix more than anything. And KVR, and Daniels, etc.

Damn, it seems if something could go wrong...it will.

We're not that bad, not that good either...but could easily be a 1 loss team. Take the dukes now, it'll all come around next year...I hope. The Defense, I want to use as a punching bag...but they did alright second half.

Would like to take you up on this bet. I'll put you all in. Hit me up on PM if interested. Hell, I'll even give you 2-1 odds on this.

I'm taking you up on this.

Getting out of South Bend is a good thing. And our defense sucks...but we get the win next week.

USC isn't that good, neither is ND...but we get them, I bet.

If ND can generate any kid of pass rush against USC then we have a chance. USC is still starting 3 true frosh OL and playing rivalry games in back to back weeks will be tough on them

I love the optimism but this fanbase is setting itself up for disappointment based on returning starters. ND fans should know by now that too much out of ND's control seems to happen EVERY year that hold us back. There's always some damn scandal or suspension. Transfers/decommits and injuries. Then there's the precarious position of QB. Some think this season is one where EG is just shaking off the rust and the TOs will be eliminated next year. Others think that he is who he is & that means more turnovers.

Yep, can't wait for Spring and Fall camps where all we hear is how much bigger and stronger everyone is and how "this year will be different". People actually talked themselves into Rees being faster and more athletic last year, Reesus.

Well, that is not going to happen. I still think we have a chance though...

I hope to God you're right. Would be the happiest I've ever been to lose a bet!

whats the word on sheldon and jarron jones? i don't have the stomach for BK's post game presser yet

They won't play. If they do, will be a shell of themselves.

3rd and county, make it...3rd and anything...make it.

Our defense is bad.

You're on. All of your bank.

Me, too. After SCum gets embarrassed tonight, they will embarrass ND next week.

Are you guys really betting against ND? For some Vbucks? Not because someone has threatened a family member, or because a family member needs some kind of costly medical procedure, but for vbucks?

KMoose I will take 1,000,000,000,000 of your vbucks and bet them on ND to win against USC if you don't mind!

You don't have to bet on ND to win. But you sure as hell shouldn't be betting on them to lose, FFS! If you don't trust them to win, then just don't bet.

I have never seen a team melt down so completely. The defense is porous. The kicker lost his mojo. The QB cant hold onto the ball.I dont see a win the rest of the season.Injuries might have something to do with this, but there must be internal bickering that has cost the team its unity.

ND's suspensions, injuries, and loss of confidence will prohibit anymore wins this year.

Playing Matuska and Hayes along with G Martini just isn't going to win at USC. Tough year because there was so much optimism after Stanford but that's what happens in college football.
