Now we've heard all your anti-immigration arguments here on IE which is a good representation of the MAGA sentiment on immigration in our country: "You don't care about the children and young women trafficked, raped, and murdered." This the highest number of immigrants ever in the U.S. at any given time in its history and these recent immigrants who have come to the U.S., in an increasingly accelerated manner over the past 30 years, are not culturally adapting to the U.S. historic "sense of national identity and shared values and beliefs with a common love of 'country' or its people." And therefore, this has led to cultural "tribalism" and a "balkanization" of our country that is not in alignment with the country's dominant culture (White and Christian) and is "eroding" our country; and that anyone in favor of immigration for its financial, creative, and entrepreneurial benefits, and its cultural enrichment, is a big fan of The Great Replacement Theory and is against Christian "wypepo."
I agree that the immigrant % of the population is the greatest since the turn of the 20th Century, and that there is probably more cultural and religious diversity for this recent crop of immigrants than ever before. So we talk about it as a country and make adjustments, e.g., the Mexican Border is now virtually shut down. You can see that almost half of developing and third world countries are effectively locked out for the time being. And I wholeheartedly agree that there should be more focus on teaching/learning American values, history, and civics, especially to be required for a path to citizenship, to help drive immigrants to our U.S. identity and common and shared values/heritage.
All that said, it doesn't mean we now have to completely evict - and selectively at that - all the brown and black immigrants in the country with a different culture, language, and religion, and in a cruel manner, dangerously dehumanizing them. As you can see, there is a net benefit - especially financially - to immigration and they commit crimes at a lower rate than the non-immigration population. I also think the whole Somali daycare center fraud indignation is overblown and being used as some kind of extrapolated example of rampant immigration fraud across the U.S.
Yes, there is some crime and Trump, Stephen Miller, Noem, and the rest of the admin, and you regular pro-deportation MAGA Trumpers, call out and focus on only the extreme, yet still relatively rare, examples of immigrant crime (murder, rape, and fraud) to support your position. No one wants their family members, let alone innocent children and young women trafficked, raped and murdered. These crimes happen and that's a fact of life, and I pray for the families who are the victims of these crimes. And just like with any felonious and violent crime, we go after these criminals and lock them up, we bust gangs and drug dealers, and yes, we deport criminal immigrants. But these violent few do not represent the vast majority of immigrants who, again, are a net benefit to the U.S.
