Finally saw Black Panther. Thought it was really good but some of the CGI was pretty dubious. The combat trial on the cliff was particularly bad.

Deadpool 2 was good. I think it was a bit better than the first one. Definitely funnier.

Once the movie got past the “We Can Say ‘Fuck’ and Show Blood so Let’s Say ‘Fuck’ and Show Blood” stage, it settled in and used the R-rating well.

Some of the 4th Wall breaks were a bit forced. Cable has plenty of screen time, but I wanted to see more because of how much I liked the character.

Really, REALLY like the direction they went with the narrative. I recommend seeing it if you had any love for the first one at all.

Also, probably takes the crown for best “credits” scene of all time.

I don't consider this to be a spoiler, just a quick clip with a great joke apparently improvised by Dave Bautista himself. Gives away nothing of the plot. Thus put it here instead of the spoiler thread.

If you don't have The Incredible Hulk last, you're wrong and I hate you.

As the algorithm bases it on numerous 1v1 choices, maybe we should post our own final lists and then comment on if it came out to how you would have just ranked them yourself.

Personally, you will probably hate me, but while I personally rank TIH very low, I dislike IM2 a lot because Mickey Rourke stunk big time (but loved Justin Hammer) and T:TDW (loved Loki, but villian - like IM2 - was up there for MCU's worst) slightly more

My list apparently...

MCU Ranking
Captain America: The Winter Soldier
Captain America: Civil War
Infinity War
Iron Man
Guardians of the Galaxy
Thor: Ragnarok
Iron Man 3
The Avengers
Spider-Man: Homecoming
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2
Captain America: The First Avenger
Black Panther
Ant-Man
Thor
Doctor Strange
Avengers: Age of Ultron
The Incredible Hulk
Iron Man 2
Thor: The Dark World

I would say it is pretty valid. If I made a list it would be pretty similar. Some of these are hard because I like one for humor and another for action or the type of story so they are hard to judge against one another sometimes.

1. Infinity War
2. Iron Man
3. Guardians of the Galaxy
4. Thor: Ragnarok
5. Black Panther
6. The Avengers
7. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2
8. Captain America: Civil War
9. Captain America: The Winter Soldier
10. Iron Man 2
11. Spider-Man: Homecoming
12. Captain America: The First Avenger
13. Thor
14. Iron Man 3
15. Ant-Man
16. Doctor Strange
17. Avengers: Age of Ultron
18. Thor: The Dark World
19. The Incredible Hulk

Iron Man is and always will be my favorite. But the question is "which would you rather watch RIGHT NOW?" and the answer is Infinity War, because I've only seen it once... Infinity War takes the top spot for me because of recency bias, but I'd move Iron Man up in my definitive ranking.

Same goes for GOTG2. I enjoyed it enough that I'd put it at 3a/3b with the first GOTG, but I've watched it a couple times recently, so there were a few films I'd rather catch first before watching again.

I'd also put Thor: Ragnarok and Black Panther at 4a and 4b. I enjoyed each in equal, great amounts, but for different reasons.

I was surprised at my own seeming lack of respect for The Winter Soldier. One of the best MCU movies in terms of pure "film" metrics, probably. I think that's probably reflective of how important "humor" is to me in movies, and why the GOTG movies are so high up for me.

Iron Man 2 is recognized as one of the worst MCU films along with Thor 2 and TIH, but I love it for some reason. I love Justin Hammer, so I look past how poorly they cast/used Mickey Rourke. I also love the fight between Stark and Roadie during Stark's bday party while DJ AM spins records. One of my favorite MCU scenes, period.

Iron Man will always have my top spot for four reasons:

1. It's the OG
2. RDJ as Tony Stark is one of the best casting jobs of all time
3. Combined humor and action
4. It's never lost the superhero-movie "nuance" for me; I'm still impressed by his makeshift arc reactor and armor every time he builds them in that cave

Iron Man was the only one of any I could watch all the way through and even that was getting tired by the end...

Agree with all of this, but it gets dinged for me because I think Obadiah was used poorly. You can't have the villain wait until the third act to reveal himself when it's completely obvious throughout the whole film that he is, in fact, the villain.

I agree with that. They had potential to have one of their best villains ever, and they almost did in their very first film.

It would be interesting to see how the movie itself changes, though, if Stain is outed as the villain earlier. Does it lose some of the "pop" when Stain shows up and executes the terrorists, or when he shows up at Stark's mansion?

Stark crawling to his workshop to get the original chest-piece, and then his robot saving him, and then him winning the fight despite having an under-powered suit were all big moments that made the movie so impressive for me, and IDK if you quite get the same impact if Stain doesn't show up and reveal himself at such a late moment.

That might have been overcome by having Stain doing more seedy shit out in the open earlier in the film, though, because Bridges is a boss.

This is the wrong thread for you.

Ha, correct... freakin nerds I saw the list of movies and was like, "wow, really puts it in perspective for me" lol

Anyway just wondering why not include the other Marvel inspired films?? The first X Men didn't entirely suck...

I get the rights and studio but they’re still ‘Marvel movies’... just wondering why you all wouldn’t include them... but whatever def not my thing.

It aint me my brother... I found the link in reddit. I could not make such a thing. Might be interesting to have one include those, the various Batman ones all the way back to Keaton, the Toby and Andrew Spidey ones, and throw in Blade (I liked those)

...whoops Green Lantern, Deadpool 1 and 2... Punisher movies (Thomas Jane one and War Zone)...who else?

I just watched the entirety of Black Panther a few nights ago (I had seen bits and pieces through some "sketchy" means online).

That.....that was a pretty average to below average Marvel movie in the context of what has been released recently.

As some had pointed out, the CGI is pretty awful. It's bad in some other films, but not to the point where you completely notice how bad it is during the scene. It would literally draw my attention away from the movie.

The first 20 minutes of the movie were about as "Meh" as you can get, about until the scene where Killmonger finally shows up. Then it gets better.

Killmonger is a good villain, but I think there was such lofty expectations because of what I had read online that I don't think they were met. He's not the pinnacle of MCU villains, but is much more relatable.

I get why they turned Shuri into an uber-nerd (as they already had a strong black women fighter, and didn't want to oversaturate I'm assuming), but I would rather of had Shuri as more of the techy/fighter she is briefly in the comics. If you do that, I think you can then hold her over to Infinity War where she's wearing a Vibranium Iron Man Suit to help whoop up on Thanos. Do we know if she died?

Good to see Gollum and Bilbo Baggins teaming back up.

It's a middle of the road MCU movie. It's great that culturally it means so much to many people, but it isn't really that strong compared to other recently released MCU films.

So apparently James Gunn went after Ben Shapiro and then Mike Cernovich dug up a bunch of old offensive James Gunn tweets so Gunn got canned by Disney.

Did you read any of the tweets? They’re supposedly jokes but man, they’re awful. He might be a legit pedophile.

Watched Ant Man and the Wasp a couple of days ago. Good fun movie. Not mind-blowing by any means. Definitely a nice break from the darkness of IW. Nice to watch a movie where the world isn’t at stake. Evangeline Lilly is super hot. Michael Pena was great again. Paul Rudd was Paul Rudd. Villain(s) weren’t great. Post-credit scene was good. Way too much was given away in the trailers. Wish filmmakers would stop doing that.
