I don't have any power, so I can't watch games without eating up my data. I'm going to the bar tomorrow for the game. Stupid hurricane.

Losing power and not having data are both for the poors.

I hope the weather has turned for you buddy. Good luck.

I truly think we totally dismantle TEXAS tomorrow. They may score points but they won't be able to stop us. We put up huge points tomorrow IMO

The trumpets give me goosebumps. How early do people show up for that? When does it happen?

I've gone to it a few times and I think it's about 30-45 min before kickoff, can't remember the exact time though. They also do it Friday night before home games. On Saturday I'd say it's pretty full by about 15 minutes before they play. It is awesome, definitely have to do it if you've never been.

Edit - it says at the end of the video that it happens approximately one hour before kickoff, so I was close :)

Less than 22 hours!! Getting goosebumps!
I'm really sad though. I have a tradition every year the night before the first game to watch 'Rudy'. Just moved to Dallas and forgot to bring it with me. Looks like I might be ripping it online tonight.

That enough time to get to my seats and soak everything in?

Certainly. The trumpet performance only lasts for a couple minutes, and then soon after the band marches from the Main Building to the stadium, entering the stadium around 3-3:10pm. I usually get to the stadium a little after 3pm for a 3:30pm scheduled kickoff (really 3:40ish), and I don't have reserved seats (student seats are open by class section). The band comes onto the field soon after it enters, usually around 3:15pm.

Awesome. Never been so I have no idea on distance and such.

So, here we are at the start of another season. It is kind of weird that it falls on a Sunday, but oh well.

I am not drinking tonight, but the weather in Nashville is finally pleasant so we have the windows open and we are enjoying the cool evening air as we watch the SC/Bama game. Pretty darn good Saturday of football.

I want to wish everyone a great night and sweet dreams of lots of Irish touchdowns tomorrow.

And to NDinL.A. - all the best my friend. This is the night I think back to you and I getting hammered while we bash the trolls that used to infest I.E. back in the day.

Cheers y'all!!! Let's go Irish!!!!

I'm here my man. Got lucky that the wife went to her sister's house with the kids today after their nap, so I've watched football almost the entire day. Currently enjoying the Trogans getting their asses handed to them by (puke) Bama.

Great talking to you last night. Hope to see you soon...cheers to another season!

Oh man when are you planning on making the pilgrimage?

Old Man NorthDakota and I are losing our ND virginity together at the Stanford game. I brought it up as a joke, and he took it very seriously. #blessed

Beyond thrilled. There may be tears

That's awesome! Me and the wife will also be at the Stanford game. Should be an awesome atmosphere for your first experience.

Cool, I'm losing mine at the Nevada game Saturday. I've lived in Mishawaka for 18 years but work and family obligations always conflicted with game days until this year. I decided that come hell or high water, I was making it to at least one game this season and chose the home opener.

I've been up since 5:30AM in anticipation of the opener and the next twelve and a half hours can't go by fast enough. I've got some work to do later today and hopefully I burn off some adrenaline so I'm not pacing around for two hours before game time.

Bonus: I was hired by Notre Dame Landscape Services last Wednesday and am supposed to start sometime this week. I dang near clicked my heels when I left the headquarters but said to myself "Act like you've been there man." :)

So, its that time of year to bring this thread back! We have done this every year for a long, long time. Not sure if NDinL.A. is on tonight or not. I texted him earlier this week and we didn't get a chance to talk, but I always think of my good friend most on this night.

I haven't been on very much at all. Been a rough 9 or 10 months with family stuff going on - my dad has been going through some difficult health stuff. Its all good, but it still continues to take up a lot of my time.

But I had to carve out some time tonight to sit down and check in with my I.E. brethren.

So, if you're drinking something, hoist one with me. Even if it isn't booze. I happen to be drinking a delicious Steak 'N' Shake milkshake - gotta be up early tomorrow.

All the best to everyone on I.E.! I hope we have a great season ahead of us. Let's Go Irish!!!

Oh, I'm jealous! I like the Woodford Rye, as well. I also recently acquired a George Dickel 17 year. Pretty amazing, I must say. I will definitely have something in the bourbon/American Whiskey family tomorrow, but tonight, I am on the wagon!

Enjoy the Woodford, my friend and thanks for the toast!

Cheers, everyone!

Food is prepped for tomorrow and now it's time for some good whiskey and Rudy to end the evening. I swear this time I'm not gonna get choked up when he reads his acceptance letter.

Yes you will! I always say I am not going to get choked up when I watch the Rookie and Jimmy Morris gets told he is getting called up and the team is on the road...in Texas.

I will never say I won't get choked up at Rudy, because I know the effort would be futile.

My hype levels are at all time lows for cfb... idk why, combo of a lot of things I guess... looking much more forward to the NFL this year. Still curious to see what ND does this tear tho of course.

I'm pumped for the season to start as I missed much of last season due to a career change. Let's go Irish!
